Your thoughts on the Mxr EVH flanger?

I´ve been gassing quite sometime over this pedal now, maybe of sentimental reasons...after all, he´s the reason I play guitar today..As usual, when cool things hit the market it usually takes a couple of months before we can get a hold of them over here so my question to those of you who have tried it: How does it sound?

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the EVH Flanger the same as their "normal" Flanger with his presets and paint? I can't imagine it would be that hard to figure out his settings...

I had one and IMO the "unchained" button was ducky and not worth the extra $20. I did like the regular flanging and would recommend the regular pedal. The sweep of the "unchained" button was no where near what it should have been.

My thoughts are that, like all flangers, it's an effect that is really only rarely used, and even less so in modern times. Same thing with phasers. It's a nice effect every once in a while. IMO, it's best used only momentarily to draw attention to a particular part in the mix for emphasis.

Overall, very little time should be spent worrying over something like a flanger versus effects that deal directly with your tone such as overdrives, boosters, distortions and EQ's.
