which 2x12

Hey guys I always use a 4x12 with V30's, but I want to pick up a 2x12 cab with V30's to leave at the small rehearsal space. Mesa seems to have quite a few choices. I play mostly heavy melodic music but also a broad range of music for covers. Anyone have any recommendations on which 2x12 cab would be better? Thanks for any info in advance!

My oversized Avatar 212 kicks all sorts of ***. Sounds better than any of the boogie 212's IMO. It's a direct ripoff of the Bogner OS212 and that's one of the all time great cabs.

I would look into a Port City 2x12. they have this cool sound deflection technology


"The Port City Wave™ cabinet is constructed with a 45-degree angle sound deflecting panel located at the back of the cabinet. (Between the top of the cab and the backpanel.) This panel is dadoed on both sides of the cabinet for ultimate support. Internal sound waves are projected from the back of the speaker down to the bottom of the cabinet where another 45-degree panel projects sound waves towards the front of the cabinet. From there an angled port which runs the width of the cabinet and projects these sound waves out and up towards you. This allows those sound waves from the rear of the speaker to mix with the sound waves from the front of the speaker. This gives an effect similar to that of your sound coming from a PA system. My friend has got a Port City 2x12 with V30s and it honestly is one of the best sounding cabs I have heard. It has a really nice well rounded tone, and that deflection technology from what I can tell really does add clarity and a nice balanced tone.

Mesa Cabs are really nice as well, built like tanks (as all mesa products are). They have some cool designs as well like the 3/4 closed back design, but if it were me I would look heavily into Port City cabs. They are soo sweet

The Mesa Boogie Roadster 2x12 has got to be tough to beat (same as 2x12 Stiletto cab but with black piping). 2 V30's, built like a tank, really amazing bass response for a relatively small sized 2x12. I've got a couple of Roadster cabs so am selling a mint one with cover for $450 + US shipping. I usually take one to gigs and mic it so this one stayed home. I bought 2 for the same reason, used one at rehearsal and one at home so I don't have to transport back and forth. Think I'm going to go with a compact 1x12 as my 2nd cab for home now. I use a Mesa 1x12 widebody for jams. The open back seems to help everyone here me in a small room.
And then I use a 4x12 Marshall for gigs.
