I heard from a shop that the FX loop on the duel rec can overload boss pedals and I shoulds buy something to sort that....? not sure what he meant...Ive tried a boss dd6 through the back and it sounds kinda squashed

is it just modulation type effects eg chorus, phase, tremolo effects that should go through the FX loop on the back?? Not sure how to set it...I plan to get tremolo and a phase pedal for a tom morello type sound so knowing how to have them wired would be good. Im not big on effects at all..never used them....I have bought quite a few and sold them as they never sounded good and didnt suit my style but ive had ideas recently how to use them for certain types of songs etc....slow rate smooth tremolo on the clean channel etc. Also a bit of reverb to open up the sound of the duel rectifier a bit....

a 'fish out of water' and 'holy man' by one minute silence kinda vibe

Delay and reverb sound best in the loop for sure if you are using any gain at all. some effects sound OK in front and/or in the loop so it's a matter of personal preference (chorus, compressor, phaser). usually effects in the loop sound more dramatic since you are patching that effect straight into the power amp. Just play around with different effect chains and you'll be able to tell which ones sound best and where.

A parallel loop can be a pain as it will freak out if you send too much level to the return. You might think about modding it to serial if you want a no fuss fx loop. Both my amps have been modded to serial.

i will only use delay with gain for solos.....very rarely too.....i like delay on the clean channel for dark sounding broken shords etc. can really be good for certain types of songs.

i will run reverb (when i get a pedal) all the time but just a little to giv the sound some atmosphere

so keep the return level lower when running the dd6 through the back you say..I will have to try that. When I get the phase and tremolo I will play around with them.

Well, in the manual it says to crank the effect level on the pedal and mix in the amount you want to hear using the FX mix pot. I always liked cranking the FX mix pot and dialing in the effect level as needed.
