Subject says it all.
What’s on the current rotation in your head (or if your actually working through a piece, what is it)?

Strat says…
Genesis – Dancing with the Moonlit Knight

I'm in shred mode right now :D
Yngwie - "Far beyond the Sun" I figured I may as well learn this all the way thru
Vinnie Moore - "The Thinking Machine" and "The Maze" (gotta love the vinman)
John Petrucci - "Jaws of Life"
Nevermore ...basically everything from their last 3 CDs (Love the 7 string stuff)

I'm driving my poor wife nuts with this stuff

Tommy Emmanuel ===="Mombasa" and "Since we Met"

Brad Paisley The Solos in "Start a Band"

Robben Ford "Riley B King"

That will keep me busy for a while.

The necromancer and the fountain of lamneth by rush

some andy timmons licks

but mostly messing around with my new nomad 100!!!!

PS tommy emmanuel is the greatest guitarist ever!!! imo :D

Humm, trying to learn Battle Rages on by DP, lead breaks of "On and On" by MSG on One Night at Budokan (well, this im trying almost all my life  ) and some Ulrich Roth licks.

working on dorian mode (licks, chord progressions and stuff).

listening to ZZTop, Rush, Ricardo Silveira and the new AC/DC cd. 8)

The last two Opeth CDs are getting heavy rotation at my house.

Another Swedish band I am totally hooked on is Witchcraft. Mainly their album called "The Alchemist".

I dug up Captain Beyond's first album a while back and have been listening to that a lot too.
My band mates and I have been working on "Dancing Madly Backwards".
I can't wait to see the "dear in the headlights" look we get from people if we ever play it at a gig.

check out Miles Davis "kind of blue", the inception of modal jazz. blues, mixolydian, dorian EVERYWHERE!!!

also John scofield "a go go" has a lot of dorian.

Thanks Rabies :D gonna check'em out, although Miles has some tunes that are really wierd imo. Ive also tried to learn more from Maestro Antonio Carlos Jobim, but i simply cant memorize those 200 chords for each song

Sco is always a name that catch my attention when it cames for jazz-rock and fusion. wondering . . .ever listened to Ricardo Silveira?? great stuff also.

I've got skill A.D.D. when I find a great band in my ears and don't actually practice like I should. I'd rather be listening to the metronome but instead I kick on my iPod and play along with Santa Cruz's The Expendables and of course, Death Magnetic. Also, Rancid, Vinnie Moore's "Out of Nowhere" album, or at least parts of it. And if I want to make my ears ring, NOFX. I feel so young doesn't anyone on here play punk? Or is it just cuz I have a Recto.... :?:

Muse and Death Magnetic can't seem to get out of my car or hands

I really tried hard to give death magnetic a chance. didn't happen...

The opposite for me. The more I hear it, the more genius it is. And if you try to play it, the more respect I have for all of them. It's not MoP or AJFA. But it is awful close and I've come to appreciate it outside of the comparison.

My disc player currently has loaded...

Deep Purple "Live in Australia"
Andy Timmons "That Was Then..."
Paul Gilbert "Get Out of My Yard"
Steve Lukather & Larry Carlton "No Substitutions"
Dream Theater "Live Scenes from NY" (2 Discs)

Thrash Metal Mode, As per usual...

Evile -Enter The Grave
Flotsam and Jetsam - Doomsday for the Deciever\
Testament - Practice What You Preach
Destruction - Thrash Anthems
Gama Bomb - Citizen Brain

Thats what cycles through my car and stereo at home

Listening: Rush: Moving pictures, Metallica: DM, Rolling Stones: Exile on Mainstreet.

Learning: Pour some Sugar on me, Black Dog, Hells Bells, Harvester of Sorrow.

That's the version I was hearing. Great hook and just good use of a 1/4/5 chord thing
