hi
sold my 2 channel recto a while ago...I miss it and now I can get a deal on a triple recto 2 channel nr 1285 (or something like that)
What can I expect?s ame tighness or what?

Well, you had 355, which is a Revision D. Then you had 797, which is an F. The Triple Recto you're looking at would be closer to the second amp, 797. Maybe even tighter by a bit, since it has more headroom from the extra 50 watts. Changing tubes would be more of a hassle though...

yeah I liked the 797 very much.......Its hard to check the serialnr which revision and so on.
and I dont have any experience what so ever about triple rectifiers

ok ok I bought it. it s coming next week. I ve to change the powertubes . can I buy 2 matched tubes x 3 or must it be matched sextetts tubes?

Matched pairs would be best, let the seller know what amp you have so they can make sure, as long as they are matched you should be good.

Who are you buying from? Just curious.

3xpair, quartet+pair or sextet... Doesn't matter. All that matters is that you have matching pairs.... whether or not one pair happens to also match another pair is inconsequential.

Ill buy from a retailer in Sweden or maybe tubedoctor in Germany.
It will not be JJs
but thanks for help . It is not so difficult then

forgot to tell....the triple 2 channel is a blackface. Im so excited. I have never ever seen one in real life. pics to come

JJ's aren't the favorite around here, although Mesa is using them for 12AX7A's, go figure. I'm using an integrated quad of JJ KT66, KT88's, with GZ34's for rec tubes and high gain for V1, V2, V3, standard in V4 and balanced for V5. Gain, cut and THUNDER! I don't and won't use chinese tubes, don't like the way they sound, (too bright) that goes for Penta labs chinese 12AX7A's too...........Tung Sol RI, RFT's, and JJ's for me. I'm going to try the Tung Sol RI in V1 soon, then the RFT.

ok yeah Ive got a tungsol i v1 in my Roadster head. sounds good but not that much. a little clearer maybe
JJs are not for and have never been. It s a matter of taste/hearing taste I suppose
i would like to try the cheapest one of them all sovtek 6L6wxt.......i don t have a clue how they sound

got the amp...serialnr R-001285 triple recto blackface and cchrome
sounds incredible......best recto sound ever. so tight and "musty"
very loud but yet sounds good on a little lower too

I n eed to change the tubes I think.
the el34 -6L6 switch stood on el34 but it got 6L6s in it. can that have hurt the amp? not really ?

im gonna testdrive it with the band this weekend. pics to come

Congrats on the amp, 2 ch triples are sick amps!
I wonder what kind of 6L6's are in there running on EL34 mode, some can handle that plate voltage if the amp in ran on spongy/tube rec modes.

yeah alright it got EH 6L6s in it and the spongy and vacuum tube rectifier were engaged

phuuuu thanks for that. Im was a little bit worried there. Have now switched it to 6L6 and bold and silicon mode.
thanks!!!!
