Okay...the new system from TC has been catching my eye. Anyone have experience with it yet? I really like the idea of having a system like that in the loop of my RK....and being able to trigger the channel switching and other functions on the RK from the one board.

First hand info would be appreciated.

I had one of these for a few weeks .. gigged it etc .... and took it back :-(

The concept of the G-System is great .. as i use Single Rectifier (both channels) and pedals .. so being to integrate all of these was fantastic..

I set it up using the 4 cable method ....

On the Clean channel i found it sucked ...top end out of my sound
The dirty channel was just to **** noisy (gain set to 12 oclock) and i would have to use the noise suppressor (quite alot infact)

In the end i could'nt justify spending £1000 on something that altered my tone so much ...

Good points ..... its built like a brick shithouse ... and the foot pedal is just amazing ..

But in the end you have to try these things for yourself ...

I'm still getting used to mine and havent tweaked on it all that much, but from all I can tell its all I need.

Hell, its way more than I need.

It serves as a midi controller for my amp as well, so the "tidy-ness" factor of having an integrated amp channel switcher and all the effects I could ever ask for in one unit is perfect.

Its got bugs that TC is still working on, but none of the bugs affect me too much and to update the unit could NOT be simpler... download the update from TC, plug in the unit via a USB cable and follow the two or three directions from the screen.

I think it'll be around for a while.

I wish I had more "real life application" info to pass along.

Good luck.

My band gigs nearly every weekend and plays a wide cross-section of material. So, when I first got my Road King, I wanted to find a flexible multi effects unit that would work well with the amp and the Ground Control/GCX midi system I was controlling it with. I tried the G major and found that it seemed to suck away volume and tone, especially from the higher gain channels. It also sounded a bit sterile to me. It was also hard to program, I thought. I got rid of it and bought two of the older Line 6 Studio modeler rack units. They sounded awesome, but again, sucked away so much volume as to make them unusable. Next came a Lexicon MPX G2. Sounded great, no volume drop, but was a bear to program and had some odd behaviors that made it unreliable. I finally settled on a Rocktron Xpression and have been having much luck with it. It is very transparent and the effects are good quality. It's easy to program, as well. The downside is the lack of a tuner and the noise suppression doesn't work very well. I still use my Korg rack tuner and my Rocktron Hush IIC, so that makes up for the Xpression's shortcomings.

I would like to know how the G-system works as well. I'm going to buy one for my Dual Rectifier.

I did talk to a guy off of harmony central who submitted a review of it. He plays a dual rectifier with the g-system and said that the channel switching had some major delays in it. I know this was one of the big items addressed in the latest software update. He said the effects were stellar though.

He did state that TC Electronic had very good customer service. He also stated that TC Electronic was using a Dual Rect to test the G-System which I thougt was good for me.
