Hey guys, so my buddy has a triple rec 3 channel and he has not changed his tubes once he got the amp used 6 years ago. He ordered some Mesa tubes so I decided to help him out and change them out for him. He opted to try some EL34s (STR447) this time over the 6L6GC that were in the amp. I also realized he got a different set of rectifier tubes over the ones that weee in there, I believe the new ones were 5U4G rather than 5U4. So long story short I change the 3 rectifier tubes then take out the 6L6s and inspect that and at least 4 had burn marks on the back of them. I the changed the pre amp tubes and put in the new EL34s. I then switch the bias to el34 and power her up. We let it warm up for a minute and hit the stand by on. As soon as we hit the standby the lights dipped in the room and the amp went out. I pulled the fuse and it was burned. It’s a public holiday here so no way to get a replacement fuse atm but I’m really hoping you could help me trouble shoot this.
