Before I do this, I wanted to be sure that there couldn't be any harm done by plugging one of the outs into the input of a 10 watt Marshall MG10. That little amp has some serious balls, even with the amps valve-like gain, but I wanted to use my Studio Pre for tone while using that little practice amp. Didn't want to damage anything, amp or Pre-amp. Thanks in advace for feedback!

While it should function just fine, you might find you need to tweak your controls a bit. The little 10-watter will have it's own 'voice', which most racks power amps are designed NOT to have...try setting the tone controls on the little amp low and adjust to suit.

Thanks, I didn't want to do any harm to the Studio Pre, or the little Marshall practice amp. After all, it's just for room volume practice; tone really isn't what I'm after, but I am eye-to-eye with your explaination of the amps own 'voice'. Thank you. :)

yep, your mesa tone is gonna suffering for being sent to another preamplification stage... if your marshall had an fx loop you'd be fine, but I think that's not the case. I'd say don't keep mesa's volume too high but you should be fine. Perhaps in your case using one of the recording outs may be better tone-wise.

Thank you. Yeah, I was thinking of using one of those recording outs. At least I'll have some valve tone rather than the valve-like tone the little marshall is putting out (which really isn't that bad for practicing), plus I'll be able to switch channels now also.. Again thank you!

If you amp has an effect loop, plug the studio's output into the effects loop return jack.

no effects loop on the little guy, but thanks for the reply. that's how i use the studio preamp into the valveking head, studio pre out > effects return on amp.
