Just wonderint how you use your Roadking 4x12 cab.

I'm currently using mine as a split cab.
I use the closed side for all but cleans.

I'm happy with the results but wonering if anyone uses it differently.
For example open for dirt tones or not as a split cab at all and like a traditional 4x12.

Cheers

Craig,

Although mine is a RK 2x12, my channel 3 on my RK head is using both open and closed.

Ch 1 - tweed, 6l6x2, open back

Ch 2 - brit, el34x2, open back

Ch3 - raw or vintage (I'm lazy...i just flip the toggle, roll the gain where I want it and tweak the master a little), el34x2 + 6l6x2, closed and open back

Ch 4 - modern, 6l6x4, closed back

Craig,

You CAN'T do it with 2 RK cabs, as it pushes the impedance to 2 ohms (see the manual for the warning). But with a single cab (be it 2x12 or 4x12, as both 'A' and 'B' side deliver the same resistance in a 4x12 or a 2x12), you certainly can.

Just remember that the 'A+B' setting equals very short tube life when using 2 cabs....so that means A or B, but not both.

Thanks very much for the heads up I appreciate it. It's good to chat with someone with knowladge and experience with this amp.

I tried the 4x12 setting today and LOVED IT !

More bottom and a very nice top end from the C90's that reminds me of a Plexi in ways. There is also a slightly different mid hump to the C90... it's a little less agressive than the V30 and a little more "old school". I like these two speaker types together in this format. I'm staying with the 4x12 config for a while for sure!

Cheers!
