Brit mode. A different animal to dial in.
I had seen someone write…
“Remember the old Marshalls -- the JTM, Plexi & even the 800 series -- you had to crank the tone controls to 11 to get a decent sound? Well this Roadking in Brit mode works the same way. On any other Mesa or Rectifier amp if you even attempted to do this, you would end up with something really disgusting & not at all musical.”
Some of you may have explored this ‘extreme’ before, but it’s a little counter-intuitive to the normal way you might approach dialing a recto.
I decided to fire up Brit mode this morning, but first I looked around for some sound clips. One of the links I came across is this…

I thought his sounds on the live clip on the bottom left was interesting (Shook Me All Night Long, Start Me Up, and Ain’t Talkin’ ‘bout Love).
Tried his settings - Gain: 100% Treb: 100% Mids: 11:00 Bass: 12:00 Pres: 11:00
I’d never considered bringing the treble up that high, and had kept the gain in the 3:00 to 4:30 range.
Of course, I have other settings to use for Brit in addition to this….but I thought this was worth sharing. Lots of cut & crunch.
Happy jamming.
