recto cab vs stilletto cab

traded my 5150 against a stilleto straight 4*12 cab yesterday. I was surprised that it fitted in my car hahahah.the recto cab is so big compared to this.

tried out a couple of riffs this morning and was surprised again.. it sounded very recto cab........Im gonna test my recto cab and stillettoo cab side by side. but..Ithought that the stilletto cab should be more middy....i might be wrong. maybe I must test them side by side..


anyone with thoughts?????

I can't say I've tried a Stiletto cab (or the standard as they called them back in the day), but I've been very happy with my Recto (oversized) cab. I haven't experienced any of the normal complaints about Recto cabs (boomy, muddy, etc).

I would like to try them side by side though.

I have been using a Recto oversized cab for about a year now, and once I got my Recto modified and the bottom end tightened up, I took the speakers out and moved them to a Marshall-sized cab (mainly becuase I can't move the Mesa cab down my stairs by myself) but even so the oversized was too much low end and I really ended up liking the V30's in the smaller cab. So for now the Mesa cab sits empty.

Thinking about getting a Marshall cab with G12T-75's as well. Just for something that isn't V30's.

I love my traditional. Mine is an older model, back when the traditional and oversized were both considered Recto cabs (pre-Stiletto days). It's a bit much low end for me with the oversized cab. However, I've been considering dropping my quad of '76 G12M Blackbacks in an oversized straight cab. I think the extra bass might benefit those speakers.

Try G12K-100s. They have everything that the 75 has and then some, IMO.

Cool. I've been a slack @ss about getting down your way to get the other stuff to/from you. I mentioned the oversized cab to Dave, thinking about getting it from him for that quad of Blackbacks. Just let me know about the other stuff when you get a chance.
