Recommend me a rack

Well, I tried test fitting my studio preamp into the SKB rack I've got and guess what? The skb case is too shallow to hold it!!! It's about an inch and a half too short :?

This isn't a HUGE deal as I was planning on getting a new rack anyways since I couldn't fit the pre, power amp, furman and gmajor in a 4 space rack anywasy.

so, assuming that eventually this year I get a power amp and need at least 8 spaces, what are some good rolling rack solutions?

The gator rolling cases with the retractable handles look pretty rad.

Has anyone used this?

I don't want to have the flat rolling kind and I don't want one of the huge tall cases either.

I'd say get the best you can afford that isn't to heavy. I have the 12 space boogie shock rack, but it's a tank! I kinda wished that I got an skb/gator type shock rack because I'm sure thay're much lighter. With mine, it's just too big and awkward to drag up/down stairs by yourself safely.

I can put a guitar stand on top no problem. It's huge.

I'd go with a Sus-4. Sure, they're heavy, but if you're gigging, get someone to carry the other side. Even the lightest rack you can find that'll hold your gear is going to be heavy just from the gear--add another 20lbs is Sus-4 so that it's all protected. And be sure and get the wheels.

I just got a new rack from this guy on eBay:

and couldn't be happier. I ordered a 12 space, but he didn't have them in stock so he upgraded me to a 14 for free! Mine's got killer 4" casters on it, and seems to be built super solid. In hindsight, I probably should have sprung for a shock rack....maybe next time.

in case you havent thought about it, i actually see many different rack cases for sale on http://www.craigslist.org all the time for next to nothing under the "musical instruments" section. i figure a rack case if built right should last over a decade and buying a used one is definately money better spent.
