Hey gang,

After much deliberation combined with a full onslaught of GAS, I decided to buy a Roadster. I currently own a Trem-o-Verb head and have EL34's in it. To put this in the right perspective I did not need another AMP (do any of us really NEED another Amp). However, I am running my TOV with EL 34's. One channel is set to clean and the other to My Hard Rock / Metal Sounds.

I always missed my single rectifier, the ROV and felt that although the TOV is GREAT hands down amazing, I missed the raunchiness of the ROV. This is not to say the TOV is not raunchi, but it just the best adjective I can come up with.

Also, Although the clean on the TOV is more than adequate I wanted to try the best clean MESA engineered. I was a fan of the F50 cleans and still believe they are killer, but the Roadster / Loanstar cleans are the bomb.

The brit setting on this is much better in my opinion than the Roadking VI that I had. It is nice and full and has a bite to it that is distinct from the others.

Channel 3 Vintage, with 6L6's sounds freaking old School. Like old school MESA. It sounds as sweet as my TOV, but has enough difference with the 6L6 that it makes me feel good to have both for a reference.

Channel 4: WOW. I feel like the guy in the Maxell commercial where his hair is blowing back and he is just sitting there. Its the and then some.

Overall this amp I believe is a treasure and will go down as one of MESA's best and is a worthy enhancement of the Dual Rec series.

I don't want to change a thing, although wonder what this would sound like with EL34's, but I am keeping my TOV with EL34's and this with 6L6's. To me I can hear the evolution of MESA's tone.

I can honestly for the first time in a long time say, "believe the hype". I could have bough one used, but with all the BS I decided to throw the local shop by me business.

My only gripe about this thing, is the foot switch. I really only want access to the first 4 channels and possibly reverb, but would really like to put this on my board. If anyone knows of a company that can make a custom controller hit me up (I am not nor will be a rack player).

Pictures to follow.

I just bought a roadster this week as well, I immediately threw in a set of SED el34's and man am I impressed, much tighter sound, and a better match with the roadster 2x12 than the 6l6's.

I'm seriously thinking about going all EL34's in my Roadster when it comes in. I'll jam on it with the 6L6's extensively before making the switch though...

Here are my babies.....
