Hi guys,
I am thinking about trying some different tubes in the preamp secion of my Mark V. But I just want to start out by saying that I love the way my stock Mark V sounds at gigging volumes. I am always getting compliments on my tone. I always read people saying how they dislike the stock Mesa brand preamp and power tubes so I thought I might experiment a little with the preamp tubes and see if it gets even better!
I have some spares laying around which consist of two Tungsol 12AX7 and five JJ ECC803 S - 12AX7. From your guys expereince where would be the the best place to put the Tungsols? I am thinking the tungsols in V1 - V2 and the JJ's in V3 to V7.
Also, has anyone ever tired JJ KT77's in thier Mark V. I have some of those laying around too.
