all '81 mark2b head into closed back roland 1x12 cab with celestion greenback (english version) miced with sm57 thru a designs audio mp-1 and dbx mc-6

dude this may be one of my favorite things you have posted......this one really connected with me.....great job!

really nicely done as always. you've got the half-time bridge in there.....a power-pop staple! :)

i dig the tonez too. a mark through a greenback can be mid-range city, but it works really well for this song and the mix. i like greenbacks, personally. they don't have the low end punch of some speakers and they don't stay clean when loud, so i can see how they're not for everybody. but in a band context i think they're great.

alright masque!
thanks for checking it out

this one, was a more modern version of a song i wrote many years ago, on the acoustic...
the lyric was completely different then.

but a few years ago, a friend of mine died in a truck accident on the side of a mountain..
and i envisioned his spirit leaving the body and going...... where ever it is you go.
this was sort of a tribute song to him.

Lyman
thanks man! i love the half time bridge..
i don't use it very often, because it's so cliche..
yet, so effective.

the way i eq my boogie, the greenback just works well.
if i play at full stage volume, yes, it can get to middy..
i'd say that this was medium loud studio volume, half of stage volume.
that seems to be the sweet spot of the old greenbacks (english made, i got these in the early 80's)

now, i have an avatar cab, with a Heritage celestion g12h in it.
it's a bit darker at that same volume, i haven't gotten to crank it to stage volume yet.
thanks for listening

Gonzo...that is quite astonishing and awesomely tasty!!!! I really liked the rhythm lines; they seemed to compliment the lead very well! Really inspiring...I listened about 4-5 times and then had to go play!!! Jammed out for over an hour...I'm sure the neighbors are steamed at me...oh well.

Very, very well done!

thanks for listening!
glad you dig this one..
buy your neighbors a six pack, and invite em over next time your jamming!

Gonz--I'm not giving up man, I still hear Lifeson in your playing. If it's not intentional, you were probably just possessed a long time ago and never even realized it.

I hear it too, Neptical!!!.... the phrasing and sustained notes are just Lifeson to a "T"!

Very inspiring Gonzo...very good listen!!

+1. there are a couple points where maybe you hit a couple natural harmonics or something? i forget what, but i do recall thinking there were some lifeson-esque things going on.

i have this friend who's a very good player/musician. he uses chords and voicings a lot where he lets the 2 highest strings ring out and also plays arpeggios really well. so obviously he gets that comparison too, much to his chagrin because he hates rush! the fact that he uses a 335 also doesn't help his cause either! :D well, it's a heritage version of a 335 technically but whatever. fine guitar btw!

Gonz---looks like I have some followers. Your in touble, man. LOL

But 'tis a good thing. 8)

thanks for all the interest, guys (gals?)

i've been out of town in dallas, for the last week, sorry to take so long to reply....

neptical
lifeson. i dig lifeson, always have.
i didn't come to rush until about the time that 2112 came out, but hell, my very first band covered 'working man', and 'finding my way'
heheh

rocksalt
maybe it's cuz i use a lot of those 2nd chords.....
thanks for listening i appreciate it.

lyman

LOL
that heritage 335 is an awesome guitar, i've played one.

Neptical-

Lifeson....

has a new guitar out, a variant of the les paul.

you'd think, after all these years with PRS, he'd have gone that route.

maybe he thinks his connection with gibson from way back, was more important.

geddy has always said, for him, the sound of the 335 is lifeson's sound.

maybe he outta try one of those dave grohl trini lopez models instead!

some of it's the voice, but it's just not his thing in general. he's more into the rootsy/folk/blues stuff than prog.

yeah, heritage guitars are great!
