Found this in a pawn shop. I guess someone didn't want to use a reverb tank. Also it seems they removed a preamp tube input. It seems like the two back knobs are some sort of presence controls and volume?. Anyone care to take a guess as to what they did and why?

They have made a mess of it by removing the board. I have no idea why they would do that, the board would have been a good platform for mods.

I have an SOB, let me know if I can assist you. What do you want to do with the amp?

Regards

Mark

I'd just like to know what was done to it and why. especially why the reverb knob pot isnt connected to anything.
Only the modder knows for sure. But, they wouldn't be the first person who removed the reverb function and used the tube for something else (if there was a tube for the reverb).

A response from a tech who has worked on a bunch of these:
"The pcb's are also not the best layout, so you're most likely better off with the point to point wiring in place of it."
The circuit board is fine, point to point isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be. The components hanging in mid air can vibrate and cause dry joints in the solder.

Circuit boards have come a long way since the old Bakelite boards that would crack.

In this case, they not only removed the reverb function, they also removed the reverb tube, reverb tube socket, reverb transformer, and reverb RCA jacks.

Here's my stock 60 watt SOB with reverb for comparison-
