I have done a bunch of searching through the forums and while there is a lot of information, it's hard to get it in one place so I thought I'd try to consolidate a bunch of information in one thread. Here are my questions:

-The power fluctuates in my garage; e.g. when I switch on my amp (LSC) the lights dim
---Can this kind of power drop damage the amp?
-----If yes, what would the symptoms of the damage be?
-----How does it damage the amp?
---Or does this simply result in poor tone without damaging the amp?
-I'm considering buying a conditioner or voltage regulator
---I assume that only a voltage regulator would protect your amp from power sag damage, correct?
---Does the Furman Power Factor Pro protect you from both spikes and voltage sags?
-The goal is to have a steady supply of approx. 120v going into your amp, correct?
---Again, is that what the Power Factor Pro does?
---Or do I need to go up to a Furman AR-15 or something like that?
-What is the cheapest, safest way (do you think) to:
---Protect your amp from power surges
---Protect your amp from sags (assuming it needs protection)
---Give you the best tone possible

Thanks as always

A follow-up to this. Furman AR series voltage regulators (which seems to be the only products they sell that solve sustained power sag; per the Power Factor Pro manual it does not address sustained power sag) are VERY expensive. Voltage regulators for e.g. computer use can be had for much less, e.g. (see [1] below). I'm simply trying to protect my amp from any damage and ensure steady current.

I would think these would do it; any thoughts?

In order to solve several power related issues I use both the Furman Power Factor Pro and the Furman AR-1215. Haven't had a single power related issue since. It's not a cheap solution but it is a very effective one.

I use a computer voltage regultar....brand is Tripp Lite....works great and I have had consistent power ever since!
