I'm playing an Tom Anderson Hollow Classic (ash on ash, rosewood fb, single coils) through my Mk III blue stripe. At this point in my life, this is an at home recreation, low volume levels. The amp is in Class A mode, master volume between 2 & 3. I'm looking for a pedal that will give me that warm, singing & sustaining Clapton-like tone. I can get close if I turn the amp up, but at lower volumes, I'm falling short. I'm thinking a drive pedal would help.

I went into the local guitar shop over the weekend, with an OCD in mind, and the guys there pointed me in the direction of a TC Jauerning Diabolical Gristle Tone pedal. They weren't really dissing the OCD, they just really pushed the Jauerning. They felt that with my guitar, the OCD would offer a grainier, brighter tone than I might be looking for.

I hadn't heard of the DGT, (not that that means anything), but I was surpised how quickly they dismissed the OCD. BTW, its less money than the OCD too.

Does anybody have an opinion on these?

I have a Gristle King, which is the DGTM and a clean boost put together. It's a great pedal! With having many tones. it is quite versatile. The clean boost is awesome as well. If you want "MORE" you turn on both. Our lead guitarist has one, as well, and loves it. They're built like a tank. These pedals are hand made by Tim Jauernig, and he has provided great service with them, too. I had a chair fall on mine (kids!) and broke a switch. He said to send it back and he immediately fixed it and got it back to me.

Here's a sight that will tell you more about it and Greg Koch who the pedal's nomenclature was taken from: http://www.gregkoch.com/gear/dgtm.shtml I got to hear Greg a few times at Fender clinics and he has some chops.

If the store has a good return policy, then you can always buy it and see if it fits what you want to do. If you don't like it, take it back.

I've never tried the OCD, so I can't compare the two. There have always heard glowing reviews of it, and if I ever got the chance, I'd try one to see what it's like.

thanks,

sounds like side by side demo time. I'll probably have to look at a Barber LTD and Direct Drive too.

If you can demo them all side by side, that's the best way to tell what will work best for you. It'll be interesting to see which one you end up taking home.
