Just pulled the trigger on a Mini Mesa Rectifier with black front plate and blue LED...best part? $899 shipped from the dealer. Best deal I could find without going used. This will be replacing my Express. I love the Express, but I really wanted the Rectifier tones and I thought I could get the Express to cover that and sadly, the Express just doesn't have the same gain structure. Plenty of gain on the Express, but just more airy and open and loose.

I think the black and blue look is sweet and right down my alley!

Tone report when she gets here! (the pic isn't mine, just showing the color)

I must admit the blue led looks awesome. I'm waiting for my diamond plate kit to arrive in the UK could be a while yet Think I might have to get a blue LED as well.

Hey I'm in the market for one of these!! What dealer did you get it from if you don't mind me asking? Super slick looking amp.

Nevermind, I did see this used on ebay. Good deal though.

Blue LED is the best... well, if everyone keeps getting blue, Im going to have to go with a different color.. ;)

Joking aside, its a sweet little amp. thing is killer when CH2 on modern, once you get the master 10:00. I finally know what people mean when they talking about rectifier tone.

Did yours come with a popwer cord?

Mine came with no power cord!! And I can't find anything anywhere that actually says the power cord is included. Not even the Mesa web site says anything about a power cord.

Why would an amp come without a power cord included?

If the amp came without the power cord, bag, or manual/warrenty papers it is most likely a used amp.

Mesa Boogie has very strict rules regarding "Pro-Net" pricing. A $899 sales price is below the Pro-Net of $999, and would be a violation of Mesa's policy by the seller, which could risk the sellers "authorized Mesa dealer" status.

Of course this only applies to new amps. If the amp is used the seller can sell at any price he wants.

I'm sure that Mesa could tell you if the seller is an authorized dealer, and even if that serial number amp was shipped to that seller from the factory.

Yup......should come with footswitch and a long T/S cord for the foot switch.

My seller told me he forgot to box the power cord.

Even more telling, he doesn't have the original sales receipt. Might be warranty from the date of manufacture for me.

Oh well, I'll live. It sure sounds good. I'm surprised how nice the clean sounds cranked up!

Sorry, yes it came with the foot switch w/ cable, manual, warranty card.

• 1 Button Footswitch (Channel 1/2)

• Padded Gig Bag w/Strap

Like I said in my OP, that pic is not the actual amp. I did get it new from an authorized dealer (and well known). I simply asked for his best price and this is the price he shot me on any Mini Rec in any color...$899 shipped. Simply to not ruffle any feathers, I'll keep the dealer quiet for now, as I in no way actually expected them to offer me a discount, but I had to ask. Was it an open box? Maybe, but I'm not out to get anyone in trouble here.

Amp sounds great. I'm not a fan of the black in person. Looks much cooler in the pic or with the lights out. I am currently awaiting the Pewter Diamond Plate kit and have the black one for sale at the moment.

FWIW, I don't like the Vintage 30 with this amp. I plan on putting in a G12H30 as soon as I can get my hands on one, but I could end up getting a 2x12 cab.

I know where u got that little Mini you... ;)
Either way good deal and good amp. change the tubes and itll sound twice as nice I promise.
And yea you don't want a dealer to get in trouble cause Mesa WILL yank their licence in a heartbeat. I used to build all the bass speakers for Mesa and they are very very picky people.

do tubes really make much of a difference? I've put new tubes in almost every new amp and I never heard much of a difference? What do you recommend in the Mini?

Well I haven't done any preamp tube swapping yet but plan on it tonight. Im gonna try TungSol in V1 to start with. I can hear I big difference on pres and power tubes in my Mark V. I ran Tungsol V1, high gain JJ in V2, High gain Penta Labs in V3 and Sovtek in V7. Power tubes I'm running Mesa Branded EL34s cause I couldnt afford the SED's. And who knows, changing tubes in the Mini might not make that much of a difference, but I'll find out to tonight.

Waiting to hear your findings.

Well so far I haven't heard much of a difference. Tried TungSol in V1 but I think it's a pretty worn out tube. Tried high gain JJ in V2, no difference.... Mesa uses JJ's anyway. My tube amp buddy suggested getting a couple Mullard 12AX7 reissues to smooth the gain out. I can smooth this amp out with the controls just as easy as a tube and color any tone. Stock tubes have actually turned out to be ok. Such a great sounding amp. Getting so many professional HIFI like guitar tones outta the Mini Recto. Great Aerosmith tone... Ch1, pushed, gain Maxed, 10watts, master cranked. One of the best tones I've ever heard from a guitar in my life.
