PGM's don't have trems. Also being that it's the King of Shred's model guitar, that's a testimony in itself that ya really don't need it. :wink:

You can get much nicer sustain with fixed bridge and plus most shredders abuse the wang bar when they cant think off any solo ideas, so i didnt want to fall into that.

The original PGM, the PGM100, did have a floating trem (Ibanez Edge). The PGM400 had a standard vintage type trem and there are a couple of models (the PGM3 and PGM30 which are only available in some Asian and European markets) that still have trems.

Regardless, it's more difficult to find a PGM with a locking trem than without.

The PGM301 is a very nice and simple guitar. I've got one myself right now and I love it to death though I replaced the PAF Pros with a Tone Zone and Humbucker From Hell. I love it so much I'm thinking about replacing my other trem equipped Ibanez (RG2720QMVV) with another PGM301.

this was a bit of a bump, it must be 6 months now ive had the pgm. and i love it even more then when i posted this, its such a great axe.

Matt_B how does the tone zone sound in the 301? ive heard mixed opinions of this combination.

thats not a 301, its not a signature model, its pauls personal one made for him.
the pgm 200 is very similiar though.

I love the TZ in the PGM301. It sounds F-A-T. I sure as heck didn't like the PAF Pro that was in the bridge but I knew that going in. I've been using TZs in the bridge position of almost every guitar I've owned since they've come out.

First I started with this:

And then replaced the pickups with the DiMarzio Steve's Special and Air Norton. I also replaced the pickup wiring with three-way wiring (instead of the typical five-way selection) to duplicate the pickup and wiring scheme that I loved in my JPM-100 Petrucci guitar (that I foolishly sold, of course).

This guitar sounds incredible and plays great.

i love that guitar, totally LOVE it!
played one and was like "woooooooah, £400? where do i sign?"
but the only downfall is the trem IMO.

For me the trem was actually a nice improvement. In the Petrucci JPM-100 guitars, you have to cut the balls off the ends of the strings, but the Edge Pro II tremolo in the Ibanez RGT enables you to string it while leaving the balls on the strings.

I realize this is a minor point to some, but I find Floyd Rose trems to be a pain in the *** overall for string changes, so this was at least one step in the right direction. Tuning stability always seems to be very good, as is sustain on this instrument.
