Guys,
I just picked up an Avatar 2x12 cab for a steal. It's wired in stereo with a 16ohm Eminence Legend VT12 on each side. I really, really like how this cab sounds-- I am pretty stunned, I figured I would play it for five minutes and start swapping speakers. I just played it for almost two hours. It smooths out a lot of the MkIII's occasional spikiness and warms up the cleans a lot, and you pay a little bit in tightness and definition.
Question-- what would you expect from running 4 ohm outs on a MkIII into 16ohm speakers? (right now I am running one 4ohm out into each speaker.) Loss of some highs and a reduction in overall volume?
I'm trying to figure out how much of what I am hearing is a result of the speakers themselves and how much is a result of the safe-but-big ohmage mismatch.
