I am used to lift and carry my Peavey Classic 30 but my "new' Mark IV combo is so much heavier...the guitarist I bought my MK4 from said he did not want to use the casters he had (and that I now have) for the amp fearing that rolling the amp on driveways and pavement to/from gigs would cause damages to tubes (I am glad he protected the amp to that extent!).

Have you ever experienced or heard someone else experiencing troubles with MK4 or any other tube amp due to vibration for rolling the amp on its casters?

Most tubes Make it from Petaluma to the music stores with no probem. If UPS or FedEx can't break them during a 3000 mile trip, I do not think rolling them across the driveway would do much harm. I think he was paranoid.

I have played many gigs where 300 pound guys have told me to get it off the stage now or we will throw it out the back door. All this courtesy within 30 seconds of the set closing. Cooled down or not, it sometimes has to go.
If you have the time, sure, cool it down.

Tks guys -- good to know no reasons to be concerned, I'll certainly will let the tubes cool as I have done with my other amps too...

What about just using a castered anvil flight case/road case?

I've had good luck moving my Mark III around in the Gator Amp Transporter.

I've been worried about this as well with my DC-10 combo. Normally I wouldn't think much of it, except that some driveways can be pretty bumpy. I thought about looking for softer caster wheels, but haven't made it that far yet. I'm also considering some recessed handles in the sides, to make it easier for someone to help me carry it.

Might have to check out the Gator case, or invest in a hand truck in the future!

When your tubes are warm/hot its a little risc. but as said. usually you cant let them cool down. I took my mark IV from its combo casing and hanged it in my rack wich is not shock proof. its still going strong.

When talking about tube amps people often say that tube amps are more vulnerable bud I dont agree. service to you boogie aint axpensive. jut think how difficult it is to repair a line6 amp if something is wrong.

after all you will be carefull wit you boogie so I think youll carry it over rough terrain... like I do! :)

I'll use the casters that I have. I have not gigged with my MK4 yet so I am just wondering how hot the tubes can get with the fan.

I have been using a small cheap fan from Walmart behind my Classic 30 for about six months now and after being powered and played for 4 or 5 hours (no stdby switch) the tubes feel really cool and the chromed chassis is cool too, way WAY cooler than before I bought the fan.
