Hi!

Is there a price sheet available for Mesa's custom headshells/cabinets with the prices of the different options? I recently bought a Mark IV rev. A rackmount that I want to convert into a head, I believe it will fit a small/compact head.

Are there any good options other than Mesa for a nice headshell? I'm not looking for anything fancy but I was thinking about replacing the regular black grill by wicker cane.

Thanks in advance!

I've never used them but other guys on this forum recommended these guys.

I have contacted them but decided to make my headshell myself.

The stock black Mark IV head shell will run you around $300 direct from Mesa. Once you start adding custom colors the price jumps up exponentially. I want to say changing the tolex color increases it by $80 and changing the grill to wicker is something outrageous.

Thanks for the answers! I'll check out the Saxon cabs. Yeah I called mesa yesterday to have an idea, 380+shipping for a regular black tolex with a wicker grill... Pretty steep! Plus I will need some parts to make the reverb tank fir in the head.

Do you know by any chance GTS's email adress or website info so I can enquire about a custom headshell? Thanks!

Scroll down to the post by gts (George) and use the "pm" feature at the bottom of his post.

Another great thing about his head shells: he makes the front slot in a "V" shape so the preamp tubes are very accessible. It's far better than the Mesa head shells, IMO.

Thanks! I talked to him and I'm trying to decide which grill/color i will go for. I'm thinking about a regular black taurus with a wicker grill and leather handle. Mesa charges 350 + shipping for this. They also say I will need a new reverb tank (that they would pre-install in the head) for $40 because my rackmount (it's the one with a wooden panel) reverb won't fit. Anyone has any experience with fitting those reverb units in GTS's headshells? Do I really need to buy a new one made for a head?

Talk to George. He's very knowledgable on these things, and might be able to cut the hole to match the tank. He also installed a fan on my C+. Talk to him...
