Mesa DR gets messy at high volumes

I was playing with the band last night and realized that my DR gets very messy and lost in the mix when I turn the volume past 12 oclock. It has a burn screen resistor and I am replacing it next week. But I was wondering if that's not it, what else could cause it to sounds shitty when I blast my amp?

You can try turning your gain and presence down, and let the power section grind up a bit. Use the mid and treble as the focus control.

i personally like a lot of gain
and find that as i use more master volume
i can reduce the gain
and get a less messy yet still saturated sound =)
