i may be getting a mesa boogie f-100 soon and so i need to look at what cab im going to pair it with.

right now i have a marshall avt 4x12 which is nice and a nice middle of the road kinda 4x12. i recently found a mesa 2x12 with celestion v30s in it and im thinking a matched cab with good speakers would sound awesome. i guess my question is: is it better to have an ok 4x12 or a great smaller cab.

thoughts on this one?

I would say go with the Mesa 2x12, The Marshall AVT 412 is a very small 412 and doesn't have a big sound to it. I think you will notice the oversized 2x12 will give you a bigger sound than your current cab

i have the 2x12 i prefer the sound to 4x12's. You can crank more with less volume which is nice!

VS krank 2x12??

i just found a killer deal on a krank 2x12 and i was wondering what that might sound like. any one have experience with krank amps/cabinets? i figure theyre made for metal so id be pretty happy.

btw i like stuff like dream theater, rush, streetlight manifesto, pat travers, SRV, NOFX

That's funny - I'm sitting here listening to Dream Theater on my iPod at the moment! Also like Rush, Pat Travers and SRV, though I'm not familiar with the others. Not that this helps you much with the amp, but I had to mention it. :D

I'm still learning the Mesa at the moment, but I will say that I liked the 2X12 cabinet with my Roadster head. I don't know anything about the Krank.

definitely high quality over size. I have mesa 1x12 and 2x12 Roadster cabs and they are loud as can be. And if you mic'ing on stage, you definitely want the better cab. Portability is great too. Only thing you miss is having a tall cabinet to put your head on.
