A buddy brought his stock Mark IVb head over for a little experiment with tube rolling, based on the tube lineup strategies we're putting together/discovering in the Mark V Forum.

V1 - Tungsol ax7 silver
V2 - Tungsol ax7 silver
V3 - JJ ax7
V4 - Mesa 12at7 (2nd high gain stage)
V5 - Mesa 12at7 (Phase Inverter)

I used a stock Gibson Flying V (on takes where you cant see a TS on top of the amp, which the amp owner wanted to try in his clips)
My friend who's Mark IV it is plays his Suhr. The TS9 is only on in a couple of the semi dirty clips really. No other effects prior or afterwards.
Cam mic source on bass/cam overload suppression rubber mat to eliminate low end rattle on the recording. So all low end represents room sound better/fairly. Horizontal Mesa Recto cab 2x12 used. Cam was 6ft away from amp.

Heres a playlist showing same room position and cam setup demos of other marks with this mod done in their equivalent positions tubewise. (series ongoing)

And compared against some V sounds. Not really so much of a 'Vs' thing as showing how each amp transcends stock tube limits:
