broken single recto for 50 BUCKS!!!

clearly this is not a good time to sell an amp.
or be not hanging around ebay 24/7

And at the other end of the scale .........

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=150187812294&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=005

That's getting on for 1400 of your dollars !

Clearly a good time to be selling an (albeit beautiful) Thiele

PS - it didn't even have an ev !

Ha ha, look at the bid history on the $50 recto:

dabonker( 389) _ US $50.00(buy it now) _ Dec-04-07 13:01:23 PST
Starting Price ___ US $50.00 ___________ Dec-04-07 13:00:00 PST

It lasted 1min & 23 seconds.

I just scored a nice Boogie 1x12 open cab yesterday on the bay. It's got a garden-variety MC90, but the cool part is it's in mint condition and in the blonde Mesa tolex ...a perfect partner to my blonde Thiele cab!! I LOVE the sonic combination of an open-backed MC90 along with an EV-Thiele ...now that they are a visual matching pair even better! ...and at $161 and no shipping for local pickup, that's icing on the cake!! :)

...now my MKIII head in black will just have to make that tolex-change one day... ;)

I dunno, those don't sound like steals to me. Regardless of the speakers, the old 412s just aren't in demand these days. Yes, the seller would have done better to move the EVs separately. $450-ish shipped sounds about right to me.

The Mark III seems like a decent deal but not THAT great.

The Recto is pretty vague, wouldn't you say? There's no mention of what it includes, or what works. If the PT is dead and the board has been pulled, then what?

You're kidding, right?

Not at all. It wasn't that long ago that $500-$550 was the going rate for a decent Mark III, and they're still out there in the $600-$700 range all day long. I don't call $50-$100 off an item in that price range a 'steal'. A good price, sure, but nothing more.

Mark III's really sell under what they're "worth" IMO and you see them pop up on ebay frequently going under $600. Sometimes they are mislabled as Messa or Boogy. Everyone is after the IV's and IIC+'s that the III's get looked over more often than they should.

I would of loved to win that ev loaded 4x12 though

Wrong on all accounts....

The EVs alone, if sold separately would have fetched $600....the cab another $200+

Red stripe'rs are the closest to the Mark IIC+ --And way wrong on the Mark III. Those regularly sell on the Bay between $800 and $900.00

*yawn* we've been over this soooo many times.

The confusion arises because Mike B. says that the red stripes are the easiest to mod to IIC+ specs.

Most people (Boogiebabies included) seem to think that the green stripe sounds more akin to the IIC+, right?[/b]

Umm....I think it's you that is a bit off-base.

I said that he'd have done better parting the cab out, but I really doubt that it'd have gone for much more than another $100 if left intact at auction.

And as far as the Mark III, well, looking at eBay completed items I see seven heads - five of which sold for less than $750. One sold for more than $750 (cream vinyl, $950 BIN), and one didn't sell at a $999 opener.

So...what was it you were saying about Mark IIIs, again?

NO WAY!
the green stripes are the closest to the C+. I owned them both (still have the C+) and a/b'd them back and forth there is almost only the piece of mind between the 2. I think the C+ sounds a bit more raw. The green stripe is more fizzy.

eBay is cyclical....and this time of year is the worst time to gage the overall value of an item as alot of people tend to sell out of cash shortage (aka desperation) for their holiday spending and vacations. I've seen plenty of Loaded Mark IIIs sell for upwards of $850 to $950....

See this most recent example:

I've been buying and selling Boogie gear on eBay since they started...I know what I am talking about.

Personally, I wouldn't have sold the cab as a whole, because in my experience you get far less value than if you part it out.

I said you were wrong on your observation because, the person who bought the amp can part it out for a huge profit...so buying it for the price he/she did is a steal.

So....what was it you were saying about the Mark IIIs?

I dunno. Someone paid me $800 to ship him my 4x EV 4x12 just recently.

That said, I wouldn't have paid more for that cab without seeing some pics of the "EVs". Especially since he mentions it's 300w at 4ohms.

It is not my contention that any stripe'd version of the Mark III is closest to the Mark IIC+....I was only stating it least that is what has been posted and said over and over again in alot of these forums, and I recall reading something about Mike B. stating it to be so.

Hey, I have a Green Stripe Mark III combo and I swear it sounds better than my Mark IV...

It is a buyers' market on Ebay right now. That's why I will be holding off listing any of my gear until Februrary. I just can't see wasting the money on their fees when everyone is penny pinching for Christmas. :)

What I was saying is....of the last seven heads on eBay, only one sold in the range you claim they "regularly sell for".

Your "wrong on all counts" comment was a pretty confrontational thing to say; if you want to be an ******* about it (which is certainly the way it appears), you should be aware that the most recent evidence suggests otherwise. Comparing apples to apples - that is, Mark III tolexed heads - prices above $750 appear to be the exception, not the rule.

Yeah, eBay is cyclical. To me "regularly" does not mean "only in part of the cycle".

So how long have you been on eBay? What's your ID? I've been doing it long enough to remember $400 Mark IIIs, and $550 Coliseums.

EDIT - I assume you're "jazzgear296", the guy currently listing an EVM with an opening bid of $199. You've been on eBay for three years, huh? I guess the concept of "since they started" is also open to interpretation.

I am gonna try to buy a IIC+ or a IV come tax season. That is, if somebody buys Joey's Mark I before I can summon the money.

I got my blue stripe combo for $500 and I thought I screwed the guy FWIW.
