I checked the cables and two guitars, same problem. The sound will get fuzzy or just cut in and out. But then also sound fine at times. No apparent rhyme or reason to it. What might be going on?
thanks

Could be a number of things but a good start is to clean and tighten the tube socket pins.

I assume the sound getting fuzzy and then cutting out could be the rails to part of the power supply failing. Hard to know without opening the amp up.

Make sure to check the fx loop jacks. Try plugging a cable from fx send to return. Clean if necessary. I’ve had very weird, intermittent symptoms that sounds very much like what you’re describing only to be dirty contacts in the switching jacks that normal the fx loop.

This is the first thing I'd look at on this amp. It's a very common issue and will cause the OP's symptoms.
