Hi all,

I'm new to the board and new to Mesa in general. I just bought a used Simul-Class 2:90 power amp that's in great cosmetic shape and seems to function properly aside from what is hopefully a relatively minor problem: three of the pots on the front panel are loose. I'm not terribly knowledgeable about repairing this sort of thing, so I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

Remove the knobs (small screw on the side of each knob) and tighten the pots nuts.
Could be simply that.

When I had my 2:90, I bought it cheap in crappy condition and the knobs were loose (or possibly completely broken, I don't remember.)

I took it to my tech for repair and for some reason he had to get to the back of the front panel to fix or replace the pots. It ended up taking him at least an hour to do so because he had to completely remove the output transformer to access the pots from the back. This is one of the complaints people have about these power amps that are jammed into two rack spaces. But for those of us who aren't performing surgery on our power amps, two rack spaces is pretty sweet. ;-)

So if you do need to do any front panel maintenance from the inside, be prepared to pay for a lot of labor time, or to spend a lot of time doing it yourself.

I am wondering why I wanted to share this story. Who knows... but hopefully its somehow remotely related to your question.
