One thing I haven't gotten is a nice loud but power tube sounding break up on 10 watt mode. I have owned fender champs before, and those were better at those tones.

How would you setup channel 2 (crunch) for a power tube break up? I have tried putting the master all the way up, drive low and channel volume at various levels, but can't seem to find it. There seems to be way to much break up, no matter how I have the drive and channel volumes set.

Ideas?

Channel 2 crunch has a lot of gain stages. If you're looking for Champ style OD try using the clean channel.

And bypass the effects loop so that you don't overdrive it instead of the power section.

Try putting the gain around 9, master at 10, and output at 1030. Keep you baSs, mid, treble balanced toward the lower settings so you don't introduce extra gain there.

I just discovered Ch 1, Tweed, 10 watts and it is awesome.
Can that setting get up to "stage volume" and work with the other 2 channels?

Yes, IMO! In fact, at rehearsals....I use the 10W selection for all 3 channels. I primarily do this to avoid annoying "popping sounds" when switching between channels if some of the channels are set to anything other than 10W. However, all 3 channels sound good in 10W mode as far as I am concerned and be plenty loud enough to overcome the drummer!

Be sure to experiment with the bold toggle position in tweed mode at 10W as well if you haven't already. It will cut through better.

Based on your description of the sounds you are searching for.....Fat and Tweed modes of channel 1 are likely to be your preference regardless of the power amp selection of each channel. Edge in channel 2 might be an alternate choice for you, but you will likely need to reduce treble and presence significantly and increase bass to not sound to harsh in that mode.

Hope this helps, and best of luck!

Thanks MB Junkie. I was hoping the 10 watt mode could "overcome the drummer" as you say. Hahaha!!
This is an amp that keeps on unfolding. Genius really.
