Curious to everyone's thoughts. I picked up a '98 {I believe} Gibson Les Paul Studio {oddly w/ dot inlays instead of traps}. I'm leaning towards a pickup swap and was looking to see what recommendations some of you have. I'm playing through a Rev G dual recto and into a Marshall cab {currently shopping for something w/ V30's}

I'm tuned to Drop C and using 11-52's. I'm looking for more balanced string volumes {bigger strings are overshadowing}.

I'm playing metal but do a lot of 4-5 string chords along w/ artificial harmonics. So the clarity needs to be there, while trying to keep the guitar somewhat versatile {for a Les}.

i have a dimarzio x2n in the bridge and a evo in the neck, sounds good in this type of guitar.

Gibson Burstbucker Pro's are amazing.

I'm pretty sure that's what I have in my Elitist LP. Kinda round/soft sounding but definitely suitable for rock/metal. Very good/easy pinched harmonics with hi gain. I have a Super Distortion in treble position of my RG1570, maintains tonal integrity pretty well with hi gain and very in your face and good for leads (but that's a basswood body guitar).

i was thinking about replacing one of the pups in my Elitist LP. Do the BL L500xx pups maintain tonal integrity with hi distortion and jazz chords (e.g. E7#9)?

I do a lot of metal/jazz/funk/rock like RHCP and RATM so it's hard to find the perfect pups for that kind of fusion style music...

The stock pups in the Elitist LP are decent but kind of roundish/softish sounding... Nothing like my SD super distortion in my Ibanez...
