NOICE!!
I was checking out that auction last night... Really nice... R2 vol mod is great... I can't comment on the C+ mod, but have been intrigued myself... I think I may send mine in for a cap job, and possible C+ upgrade this winter. I may even get a quad of 415's while it's there..
ax.

Don't waste your money on the IIC+ mod. Get the R2 mod done though. IMHO the IIC+ is the biggest overhyped amp on the planet. I own a IIC+, i have a friend who owns a IIC+, a IV, and a Coliseum. I have have 2 other friends who own Blue Stripe MarkIII's. If i blindfolded you and played all the amps you would not be able to pick out the IIC+'s. I have played them all right next to eachother and the MarkIII blue stripe are Dead on with the IIC+'s. In fact, i find them to have a touch more gain. People will call BS on me till their blue in the face. But i have real experience with playing these amps in the same room. DOn't get me wrong i love the IIC+ that i own, but it's by no means any better than a good MarkIII. The prices and the hype make me laugh.

listen to Danyeo he knows what hes talking about : )

although I do own a modded MKIII blue C+

The difference is that R2 has about 10% more gain then the stock MKIII.

Mike B told me its to get it slightly closer to a C+.

So I guess if you want a bit more gain in the R2 and to tighten up the lead channel a little bit go for it.

I think the improvement of the amp has more to do with the fact that you got Mike B tweaking it and not so much cause he is making it close to a C+.

I remember playing a stock Mark III red at mesa hollywood and it was great.

I got the blue modded one cause it was the same price as the red but had the mod.

Danyeo really has heard all these amps together though so take his word for it.

Just re-tube it with some awesome tubes and take the time to tweak around it. Just becareful cause it can get a little fizzy, but if you dial it in right it will have a sick heavy gain sound without any fizz.
