Hi everyone,
I went to the tubestore website and the kit for mesa mark 4 amp is 5 x (JAN-Philips 12AX7WA) 50$ for each tube.
For the power section, they reccommend 4 x (6l6 sed winged C)
I know well the winged c but is anyone here can help me with the Jan-Phillips???
Are these tubes really doing the job in a mark 4???? Are they reliable and is it worth to pay this price for them????
Thanks a lot guys and a very happy new year to everybody on the boogie board...
Normand.

I don't think 5 of these tubes would be a great idea...
It's a high gain tube with very aggressives highs and not a lot of bass. I personnaly love mine as a gain tube in my triaxis (V4).

The same tube can sound somewhat different in different amp designs. My experience is that the JAN Philips 12ax7 and other similar Sylvania-derived designs is a strong bass/lower mids, and a strong top end, more mid scooped than some brands, and yes, as a rule very high gain. I agree with Crane about not using that tube in all 5 preamp positions in that amp. Mix up the selections a bit via trial and error.

Thanks guys....
I'm afraid of the aggressives high's.
Its not what i'm looking for...i want sweet highs!!!!!
Maybe one in v1 or v3...
Thanks again,

Normand.
