So, I've had my Express 5:25 1x10 for about a year now, and the only mod I have made is swapping out the stock speaker for the Celestion G10 Gold (thanks Pappy!). I've played out about a dozen times in a band setting and have loved the Clean sound, with an OCD pedal for some dirt.

This past Sunday I went to an annual Memorial Day party at my friends, and our band was playing, but this is the type of party where everyone and their uncle brings their instrument and wants to jam along. You know, it was THAT kind of party, but it was all expected, so no-one was put out. Anyway, I thought while competing with 3 other guitars, 2 keyboardists, a drummer, and two percussionists, it was time to try some Crunch. My o'clock settings were:

Gain = 10:30
Treble = 1:00
Mids = 11:30
Bass = Noon
Reverb = 9:00
Master = 1:30
Contour = 1:30

Oh baby, it just ripped! It cut through everything with ease, and their was no mistaking where my sound was coming from. Dialing back my guitar volume, produced some great rhythm tones and I could not have been happier. I heard that rich Mesa Boogie tone that I had heard in my head, but couldn't quite hear in the small basement of my house.

I think the lesson I learned here was that no matter how much you fool around on your end trying to find a sound, it just won't be the same unless you go into a loud live situation and check it there. I'm still smiling.

Nice!

Our band played the annual "Race for the Cure" about 3 weeks and, as every year, I got to play real loud. Man my Express just shines at 8 8)

Dude these things cut through the mix very well. Just did a lot of recording with mine and it's nothing but MEAN sounding midrange in the best possible way. The snare is almost completely masked.

On was on the 25 watt setting. It was chock full of crispy good-ness. My only slight issue is with my Qtron+ which I have dialed in for that Garcia Mutron sound. With it, and the amps settings that night, I had to dial my guitar volume way back or sounds overloaded - however, it I tweak the Qtron+ settings, I don't get the effect sound I am looking for. It's a fine balance to maintain, but it's just another thing I will have to experiment with in a loud live setting. Oh well :D

I glad you're liking the G-10 in the Express. A little pricey, but well worth the expense! :)
I gig mine regularly and always get compliments on the amps tone.
Some come up and want to know what I got under the hood. When I tell um it's stock except for the speaker, they are still surprised that I can squeeze so much mojo out of 1 10" speaker.
I love my Boogie! 8)

Yeah. It's a lot easier to appreciate these amps when you're playing with other people. It's really impressive how little volume you need too. Had it on the blues channel with the gain dimed. Master only got to about 9 o'clock before I was being asked to turn down.

I play mine professionally in church gigs every week. I usually use either a beta 57 or a sannheiser e609 mic. I get compliments all of the time about my tone. This past week, a guy that toured (playing bass) with Papa Roach stayed late after church to see about my amp. He was surprised (like most people) to see my little 1x10" Boogie. I play a les Paul and usually have a Fulltone GT-500 cleanboosting the clean channel...which makes a very touch responsive growling mid-gain channel. I use the burn channel for leads most of the time. I plan on upgrading to a g10 soon.

Where do I find these bring-your-own-instrument parties? They sound like crazy fun. :oops:
