So, I was exposed to a Mark IIc+ last week and I have been dreaming about Mesa ever since (die hard Marshall guy here). I found a couple of IIc+'s but I just don't want to spend the money. I decided to hunt down a Mk III red stripe and I just bought it and need to know if I did good.

It's a blonde combo with a EV-12L speaker, Simul-Class, GEQ and Reverb. It's coming from across the county to me and I payed $792 total shipped. So, did I fair alright or did I get taken? The only thing they said is that the Master Volume pot functions as it should, but it doesn't stop turning left or right. I live close to the Hollywood Mesa shop so this doesn't seem like a big deal, plus it needs to be gone through anyway.

Any comments on Red Stripes, the price I paid, the MV pot or anything I should know or have done to this amp? And where can I get some casters for it?

I think it is a good deal.
While at Hollywood Mesa, ask them to do the R2 Volume mod (it costs $50).

Good, I feel better now! It was a GC deal, they had just brought it in and it was marked $799. I called them up and told them I wasn't going to pay shipping or tax and they said, "Okay, no problem"!! You can still haggle prices with them.

So, if I think I'm right, the R2 volume mod is so I can channel switch and have independant volumes per channel? Would it be better to ship it to Mike or does it not matter much anymore? And what would this amp sell for now days? And also, thanks Scott for all of the help and info!

If it was mine I would send it to petaluma, not hollywood. nothing against Hollywood, except they don't have Mike.

after service and R2 Vol mod you might get $900 to $1000 for it. If you want to spend a few hundo more, ask mike to do the "III +" mod to it. haha... that's a whole other set of questions I can't answer

Come on, don't be evil! Is the III+ a mod to IIc+ specs? And I thought that Mesa doesn't do those mods anymore? And is it worth it, would it really be a c+?

Hey, Bangkok...you bought a sweet amp man. Definitely do the R2 mod if it doesn't already have it. You don't have to worry about any other modifications to this one. As a red stripe owner, it already sounds really damn nice as it is. 8)

The IIIC+ is not a mod to IIC+ specs, but it's an attempt. Only IICs can be upgraded to a C+; earlier Mark IIs require a preamp circuit board (SP-11A, RP-10 or RP-11A) that is no longer in production.

Okay, got it. I guess the R2 mod, replacing the MV pot and basic servicing will be it. Thanks guys.
