Hi guys,

I've bought a 4 x 10 mesa cabinet and it seems all original, but it has a covering which I've seenjust a few times on a Mesa and I still have some questions.
Anyone out there who knows about these things?........
The cab has a serial number: C14839 (what year? .... I can't find anything about cab numbers, probably 1993), has 1 input 8 Ohm
It has leather corners with the flat nails, 4 x 10 eminence: sn 679315 (1993) (are these original?............)
The strangest thing is the covering (pictures)

.. It's a vinyl, not like the tolex they use now. It's very smooth and very hard. It's hard to make a mark on it. just like most old mesa cabs the covering is coming a bit loose at the back and it seems that the layers are seperating. It almost looks like the vinyl you can use on your kitchen floor. If I'm not mistaken, I've seen it on some trem-o-verbs when they first came out....?!?...... It's black but has a grey or dark blue look???...
I hope someone can help me.
Thanks and greetings from The Netherlands

It looks like leather, but it is definitely not. When you feel the loose covering at the back, it's like a hard vinyl. Has there ever been an option of very durable vinyl? I'm almost 100 % sure this is an original covering!

they used that vinyl on the recto amps in the mid-nineties. The first recto's had that covering, along with some of the later halfback cabs.

It was a phase between the bronco style they used on most marks and the newer style smooth leather.
