I've recently purchased a used but in great shape Mesa Dual Rectifier 3 channel head with the Bigfoot footswitch. Everything seems to be in working order but when I hit the solo boost button it doesn't do anything. Is this only to work with an FX loop or am I not doing something right. Please let me know as I was excited to see the function but can't figure out how to use it. Thanks guys... MESA ALL THE WAY

Well two things to consider...

1. There is a switch in the back that allows you to hard bypass the fx loop. If you hard bypass the fx loop you lose the SOLO function on the amp.

2. If you do NOT have the fx loop hard bypassed, then check to make sure you have the solo knob dialed in louder than the output knob. If you dont then thats why you dont hear the boost. Basically the idea is you have two output knobs except the solo knob is switchable on and off, and when raised above the output will add a bit of presence to your overall sound.

Thanks a lot man, Problem solved. I had it to bypass and didn't realize it. :D

Just so you know... that hard bypass to a lot of us makes the amp sound better. After much experimentation i wouldnt say it makes it sound better but makes things a little easier to dial in your tones. The caveat is if you use time base fx you need to use the loop. So just keep that in mind when your dialing your tones in.
