I have a compression / sustainer I have had for some years but never used because it really made my S/S amps sound like crap (hated it). Now my ED seems to be friendly will all my other pedals, even some I am not real fond of so I thought I would dig out the Compression/sustainer from storage for a try and just see what it sounded like with the Dyne……….WOW was I surprised and for the last week I have been using it exclusively with the Dyne….It gets a great blues tone that I’m really digging (in vintage Lo)… the effect is the same as having the gain cranked and rolling off the guitar volume for a duller blues tone but with added harmonic overtones and sustain the pedal provides. .. I was surprised how much gain the pedal robbed but left the original tone intact…this pedal was in the hit list for EBay or craigslist but I really like it married with the dyne and by some twist of fate has earned a right to stay in the corral. (thanks to the ED)

Just wondering if the ED has rekindled love for any effects you may have given up on?

Cheers

I have that same crappy pedal. Bought it used with my guitar center 50$ coupon.

What settings are you using it with (amp and pedal). I might have to break it out again.

Here is more or less how I have been playing with it. This is a level for bedroom playing setting are different as master volume increases, but I like to basic blues rhythm tone I’m getting and you can kick of the pedal if you want gained out solo…..add some reverb in the mix too if you like and sounds great as well but loses that darkness it had.

(Guitar) = Les paul with EMG active pickups, using mostly neck pickup
Guitar volume dimed, tone half way

(Dyne) …45 watts..master volume = 8:30…… Presence = 9:00……Bass = 2/2:30……Mid 11:00……Treble 3:00……Volume/gain dimed ( vintage Lo mode mostly) High woks well too but the sound is different Bonnamassa feeling.(more so if some delay added)

(Boss pedal)…..Level = 10:30/11:00……..Tone = 10:30……Attack = 4:30…..Sustain = dimed

Again this set up is very similar to diming your gain and rolling off the guitar volume but has a slightly different vibe to it…not sure why the gain is reduced with the pedal and the Dyne as compared to my marshall; perhaps the low setting of the pedal level knob . anyway I kind of like the sound of it, just one more tone in the bag of tricks from a crappy pedal I was gonna get rid of…………..Hope it works out for ya.
