So those jacks are on the bottom of the chassis between the power tubes and pre tubes. Do the tubes get hot enough to cook the rubber on a guitar cable? Its impossible to have the cable come out the back and not have it touching a power tube, unless I mounted some kind of clip that held the cable stiff.

At the moment I have a cheap cable running from the FX Send down and out the bottom of the headshell (around the reverb tank).

Anyone have any good workarounds for this?
 
Power tubes do get hot...but the fans cooling the IIB wouldn't let anything get hot enough to melt IMO. I wouldn't worry about it. Those underside switching jacks are present on the Mark I and other amps as well (including the IV) and we would probably get lots of complaints about it if there was a design issue. I'd just leave it, personally.
