ive had this for a few weeks now but despite tweaking i cant seem to nail a priest or Accept or Trivium type tone and because ive been tweaking so much i think my ears have stopped working any suggestions with dialing in settings would help, thanks The Doggy

@ fdesalvo, its a combo 1 X 12 and im playing a PRS Custom 24 limited Edition 20th anniversary Artist and a jackson slsmg soloist (refitted with 81 and 85emgs) and the pedals are a boss noise suppressor a boss mt-2 and a route 66 going in the front and an H2o chorus and echo going in the back.In all fairness ive only been playing 18 months or so but i know what sort of tone i want but just cant nail it

Sod it just bought a Bottle Rocket should get it by the end of the week. That should help, is it worth getting a boss GE-7 pedal for fine tweaking with the bottle rocket or would the amps graphic equalizer do the job.

My friend back home had the widebody combo, as well, and honestly, I hated the way it sounded! It was very flubby, barky, and harsh sounding. I can tell you that this is due to the speaker setup.

I have a DC10 head and have previously owned a DC3 head. If you run your amp through any decent 412 cab, you will crap on yourself once you hear the difference in sound quality!

Back whenI had the DC3, I was running it on top of a closed back recto 212; it did not do the head any justice...one night I brought the head over to a friend's house and just for shites and giggles, we took his MKIV off of his m/b 412 1/2 back cabinet and put the little DC3 on top. The tone was immensely greater. The tone went from flub to tight, saturated, and smooth! On top of this, the amount of bass response was exponentially greater!

I know for a fact that your DC5 is capable of the tones you want stock! The format and speaker is holding you back.

^ agreeing... i don't think its the 'amp' itself.. just the physical lmitation of a 1x12 alone makes it very hard to reproduce some of the tones you'll hear. unplug that combo speaker and go sit it up top on a 4x12, with out any of the effects, and start tweekin from there. all that music you are trying to emulate has been made with 4x12s.

hmm due to buying all these new toys the wife has said no more for the time being so im stuck with what i now have, but would graphic equalizer pedal make any difference and help my tone sound a little tighter and clearer

alternatively i could sell my jackson slsmg soloist 68 the dc-5 and the bottle rocket but then what be the best head and cab to get for the sounds im after

right really stupid question but apart from 4 speakers what would the advantage be having a 4 x 12 cab over a 1 x 12 just phoned the local guitar shop and they couldnt tell me
