Have you ever wished your little Mini Recto was not so DAM LOUD!!!!! well me too and i have done something about it, the mini now sits on my work desktop with 2X3 inch 70 Watts 8ohms in series speakers!!!!!
Yes, i know what you are thinking...Your Nuts!!!, well...yes!!! hahahaha. but not crazy! The power section of the Mini is actually working as the "separate" power amplifier for the return signal of the fx loop!. The send is feeding the input of my POD X3 desktop unit and inside it i'm using the CAB simulation ONLY, bypassing the preamp emulation. The Mini's preamp section is doing the real analog work. The beauty of this is that with the volume control on the POD you actually control the sound volume feeding the power tubes.
Now, in order to somehow compensate for that extra saturation the EL84 can only give at hight volumes i have added a clean boos/overdrive pedal between my guitar and the input of the mini, this will help you achieve higher grades of overdrive with out pushing the power section at all...
You will end up with a HUGE little sound and best of all, you can have as much fun as you like using the bizilion cab emulations and mic combinations the POD can offer, you will hear sounds you thought where impossible with the mini!!
A have had this setup in test mode for a month now with out a glitch!!!. Those little sony speakers do actually sound pretty dam good because they are achieving and reproducing a good faithful sound of the cab emulation, and they get loud too, you will find that you can actually play along with your desktop computer speaks to a backing track.!!! this is priceless for the mini!!!
The MAYOR downside of this is that you will hardly want to put down your guitar down and would probably cut your working time by half in no time!!!!
