Yep, a Scam. Pretty much, what you need to do is let everyone know on your ad not to contact you through email, use a phone number for serious buyers only, from your side never answer to emails, Because they will start sending you spam.

thats what i thought seemed to get to be true plus he said "thanks for the mail" who says that lol

I typically respond to those responses with something like this:

"Fantastic! In order to proceed, please provide your SSN or Tax ID. Look forward to doing business with you."

no response...

And nowhere does it even mention your item being an amp. It could be an amp, blender or anything! Always a sign of a scam.

Click the link/button in the email from Craigslist identifying this as spam/fraud.

This is called phishing. They are trying to get personal information about you. Once you start going along with their scheme they will ask for more and more personal info which they hope you will give up in hopes of landing an easy sale. They use paypal to trick you into thinking its legit (paypal covers everything right???). The key to identifying these is they never mention the item you are selling in their message. These are automatically generated messages that are targeted at higher dollar items on craigslist.

When I sell on craigslist I always write in my ad that the potential buyer must type a "codeword" in the subject line of the email or I will not respond. This weeds out the scammers pretty easily.

Don't put your phone # in the ad, unless you like a million calls from lonely tire-kickers and chatty-cathy low-ballers.
Require potential buyers to give YOU a phone #.
This eliminates scammers.

Yea I put a pair of Mackie Cabs on CL and I got a similar type message and they never mentioned the Mackies! They kept saying "your item". What a bunch of low life's.
