Are Mark IV's dark or bright?

The lead channel on my DC-10 was very dark sounding. How would you guys characterize the three channels of a Mark IV? Are they dark, bright, or something else? Do they keep their dynamics, or get very compressed?

The MKIV is great because it can be bright or dark depending on how you dil it in. I had a DC5 and couldn't get the lead sound i wanted. With the MKIV it's a different animal IMHO.

As others said the Mark IV could go bright sounding or dark but it goes beyond that.
Are you going to run it on tweed or full power?
Then there is the power section
Class A or simul-class with (4) 6L6 power tubes
Class A or simul-class with (4) 5881 power tubes

Class A or simul-class with (2) 6L6 power tubes & (2) EL34’s
When running class A with this setup just the EL34’s are engaged.
When running simul-class the mixture of the 6L6’s & EL34’s is sweet this is my current configuration
All the above can be run with pentode or triode
Or the last is to run (4) 6V6’s
This setup can only be run with tweed power and simul-class
All the above are available right out of the box no mod’s needed

I believe that this amp is not a plug & play amp, you really have to spend some time and learn it. But once you do the tone you get from the amp is so rewarding
