Hi boys and girls back to the forum with my personal tube poll: The nowadays cleanest tube ever made
I work with a lot of brand new tubes jj, sovtek, "c"... and I decided to do a polling between all my friends and customers about the cleanest modern tubes.
The idea is that some amps becomes so dirty and undefined with the saturated channels, it is like a lot of mud comes together with our notes, so researching with a lot of amps I discovered tha the little winged "c" could improve a lot the definition of our sound, cleaning our signals.
So I meet with a lot of people to test a lot of tubes without seeing the brand, and EVERYBODY saids that his tone were cleaner when I put a "C" on the last tube preamp chain.
That makes a good achieve for us because now we know how to clean up our signals when the amount of harmonics fuzz our tone.
Of course a dirty signal is made by a lot of circumstances and issues to check, but one way to improve our signal is to get one of this tubes.
Thanks to all my friends that want to pass the tube test, I will give you a good german beer

Really? I wasn't to keen on the Svetlana 12AX7's. They are Clean but the drive is kind of sterile. ...any word if SED is making 12AX7's again?

yes my friend, I take 20 persons at my home and put some brand new tubes to test them, all the answers was the same " hey dude this tube really cleans my mud " and all the people likes on the final stages preamps.
I think that there are no reasons to be afraid about sed stock, because I have a box plenty of them

I don't want to know about the Bill Gates movies, Gordo. Nice, I'll have to ask again about the SED 12AX7's from our distributer.

They don't seem to be available from any American or Canadian distributors anymore. I had to purchase mine from Germany. When I asked why they're not available in the States I got different answers depending on who I talked with.

Anyway, I've been pretty happy with the SED 12AX7's in my Mark IV's preamp. They're definitely a step up from the Sovteks, however I am curious as to how they'd compare with the reissue Tung-Sol 12AX7's.

fatboy135, so what are you putting in the first preamp stages?

What answers were you getting?

sed are only distribuit in europe because we have a better musical test than american people with Britney Spears, you could get the tubes in any of the european stores, there are a lot of german online shops.
as my customers are heaviers than james hetfield the usually wants eh or jj, I also discovered that eh tube preamps goes marvelous for first gain stages on amps, and the jj works so nice near eq stages

About half would tell me SED simply discontinued making 12AX7's, and others would say something like, "they (SED 12AX7's) don't work in guitar amps because they need DC heater supply or else they hum badly."

Other than that I never really got a straight answer on that one.

By the way I purchased mine from here http://www.tubetown.de

Or that Paz Vega is a virgin

Let us know if you want to get rid of some of your stock Gordo.

yes she is as virgin as madonna
[offtopic] I downloaded a great video of paz vega ;) [/offtopic]
my stock is only for my custormers that pays great quantities of money to clean his dirties amps ( dirty like Christina Aguilera song )
Anyway if I ordered some tubes I could send you overseas... but I think that it is most expensive that diy the tube ;)

I'm still going to have to pay for it whether I get them from you or anyone else in Europe.

I guess my only concern with the SED 12AX7's are their dependability and durability. They're great in HiFi applications but I sometimes wonder about the vibrations of a guitar amp.

When I ordered from tubetown, one out of the six tubes arrived microphonic. Surely this is the fault of either the American or German "luftpost." But after only a few months I've had one other preamp tube go microphonic. Hopefully this is just a rare occurrence.

fatboy135, I'm sure you can give a better insight and comment on this subject. What do you think?

it´s a real pity how post service trade with the parcel, I usually purchase on german country and I decided to never bought Ei tubes because they are really sensitive with vibrations and they ever becomes microphonics on the travels.
the sed tubes are wonderful for hifi requirements, the are ultra linear and ultra clean.
It never becomes a 12ax7 microphonics, only Ei tubes

swear it man, the el34 are real amazing this week I think that I will do an order, for some customers here in Spain. Once they test the sed tubes they fall in love with them.
a lot of people thinks that to sound well you need NOS tubes, I think that sed tubes could be the perfect alternative to the expensive budgets of NOS tubes
