hi

I forgot to turn my amp off. It has been on standby mode for two weeks.
how much damage?????

hard to say. I don't the rate Cathode Poisoning occurs at. i'd get a retube kit for a backup, you might need it soon. It'd be an interesting experiment to keep track of though, they could be ok and last a while or not.

don´t ask how this could happen. I just wanna know if the tubes are burned now

Left my MKIV on standby for 10 days outside in my workshop. No difference in tone, tubes lived out a normal life expectancy. How does it sound? If it sounds OK, rock on. If it sounds like poop, re-tube time.

heheh that was my girlfriend that spotted it in our rehersalroom. she turned it off and now she is bulling me for it. I haven´t tested it yet. hope it is alright

ok I hope so. Pleade continue to write answers in this Q. Im gonna drive there tomorrow and test it out.

It should be fine. Crank her up and you should know pretty quick whether she's sick or not...

His girlfriend, or the amp?!

It's fine. In standby there is no power going to the tubes. All standby does is turn the fan on and turn on the power tube heaters.

AFAIK, You could probably leave it on standby for months and it would still be fine. Don't try it though...

Go turn on your amp, dollars to donuts says its just fine.

I left my JCM800 -- with its 12 year old tubes and everything -- on standby for over a week and a half a couple of months ago. No affect, apparently. It still sounds angelically demonic, like it should.

You're probably fine.

It should be fine theres no power going to the tubes, but your lucky we had a nasty t-storm here last night caused a blackout, and fried my friends computer and stuff. luckily you dont live in NY

Like everyone else said, the amp should be fine. Frequent temperature changes can be harmful over time, as circuit boards can become brittle (I wouldn't worry too much about this in a Mesa, they have pretty solid boards), but sustained heat isn't a problem. The worst case is some cathode stripping, which just shortens the lifespan of your tubes. Fire it up, if it sounds right, play it. Retube otherwise.
