    Great guitar and amp pairing

Last spring, I traded my Mark Five:25 1x10" combo for a Music Man Cutlass RS HSS. I didn't regret the trade- I really like the guitar, but I thought the Cutlass would sound really great with the Mark Five:25 and wished that I still had it. I finally found a used one at a great price and bought...

    New to me Fillmore 25

I just picked up this Fillmore 25. It sounds great and I love the look of the Cocoa Bronco! I've had 10 Mesa amps in the past and I think this one suits me the best.

    New amp day!

I just bought a new Mesa/Boogie Mark Five:25 1x10" combo! It sounds great. Nice cleans- the Fat mode reminds me of the slightly dirty clean that my MKIIB had (that I miss). Boogie OD. Surprisingly "big" sound (everything everyone else has said). I'm taking it to a rehearsal tonight. Here's...

Celstion G10 Gold alnico in Express 5:25

I just put a Celestion G10 Gold alnico 10" speaker in my Mesa Express 1x10 combo. Wow! Sounds great! Deep lows, warm highs... I don't have to fatten the EQ up as much when switching from an ES-335 to a Strat. And my Tele, with both pickups combined, sounds like BB King! Crunch mode is very Vox...

NOAD 1986 Mesa Studio Series 22

I'm a couple of days late on this- I just set up a new account to host pics. I'm a sucker for these amps. I had a Studio .22+ a few years ago and always wished it has the graphic EQ. I saw this 1986 Studio .22 on CL at a great price and grabbed it. It appears to be complete and all original...

    2001 Marshall JCM2000 DSL401 1x12" combo

Though a little road worn, this amp is in good solid condition and sounds great! Recently serviced with new JJ power tubes and PI tube and Chinese preamp tubes. New reverb tank and footswitch (generic). Bridge rectifier replaced and mounted raised off of PCB with heatsink. FX loop does not work...

    Die cast Mesa/Boogie logo

When did Mesa switch from the flat Mesa/Boogie logo to the raised die cast Mesa/Boogie logo on their amps and cabs? I assume early '90s. I'm asking because my Studio .22+, which has a 6/28/89 date written inside it, has the die cast logo and I've never seen another this early with it.

    Studio .22+ (non-GEQ) vs. DC-3

You might consider this to be an apples to oranges comparison, but... I have an ’89 Studio .22+ (non-GEQ) in good stock condition, except that it has a Lead Drive control added, and a mid ‘90s DC-3 (Ver. B) combo in similar condition. The Studio has the Mesa labeled Eminence speaker and the...

    DC-3 newer version schematic

Does anyone have a schematic for the newer version of the DC-3 - the one with the two way EQ switch on the back? I'm having issues with the GEQ on mine (the 80Hz slider does nothing) and would like to see an accurate schematic. The voltage coming from the transistors onto the GEQ board is...

NAD - DC-3 combo and Thiele cab!

Yesterday I bought a DC-3 and Thiele cab. They were cheap because the amp is in need of repair- it had no reverb, the reverb controls acted as gain controls, it was feeding back and making funny noises, the 80hz slider does nothing and the lead channel hisses loudly when you crank the gain...

Studio .22+ switching from lead to rhythm

I just picked up a nice clean '89 Studio .22+ (no graphic EQ) a few days ago. The amp sounds great and functions as expected though I have one question. When I switch from lead to rhythm modes the amplifier becomes momentarily louder. Like a very brief "flare" in volume between modes. After...

    I'm ba-ack

I sold the Express 5:50 1x12 combo that I bought new because it was too heavy for my old, damaged back and because I was getting a clean sound that I liked more from my Vibrolux Reverb. I still missed having a Boogie amp of some sort, though. Lately, my back's been too sore to haul my VR, so I...

NOGD (New Old Guitar Day)- 1959 Gibson ES-225TD

Not the type of guitar that you would expect to see on The Boogie Board, but this guitar is a rocker! It sounds great through my Vibrolux Reverb and sounds like the '50s through my tweed Deluxe clone and it's awesome with my Lovepedal Eternity Burst overdrive pedal. It should sound great...

    Is this safe to use...

Trust your tech, in this case. If the base has been twisted at all, the leads can come in contact with each other. They're not individually insulated from one another. There might be the slimmest possibility of it being repairable if the tube is good otherwise.

    Speakers

I recently swapped the C-90 for a Weber 12A125 (12", Alnico magnet, 1.25" voice coil - Jense P12Q replacement) in my Express 5:50 1x12 combo and can't get over the difference in the tone! I borrowed the 12A125 from my tweed Deluxe clone. The sound is much more vibrant and 3D and the amp is...

    Belated NGD- Carvin DC150

I just received this guitar Friday evening. It's a Carvin DC150, probably about 3-4 years old. What a great guitar. It's build wonderfully, the nicest build quality of any guitar I've owned (and I've owned some nice guitars). The tone is great. Kind of Les Paul like, but different. The upper...

    Intermittent mid control

Recently, I noticed that channel 2 on my Express 5:50 combo sounded lifeless and flat and had less gain, fatness and punch than channel 1! I suspected pre-amp tubes. Swapping the original tubes around did nothing. Replacing them with a new Tungsol and JJs that I had on hand made the amp sound...

1982 Ibanez Iceman II IC-50- lower price

1982 Ibanez Iceman II IC-50 in Regal Blue. Made in Japan. This guitar is in good condition with 27 years of playing wear. It has several nicks and dings that are through the finish and can be seen in the pics. The pickups, pots and switch appear to be original and function well. The wire to the...
