    Mesa Boogie Lonestar No Longer

Don't feel bad...we've all done silly things in our quest for gear. I've lost count of how many great guitars I've sold or traded hoping that the next one would be better or that it would improve my playing somehow. Then you realize that playing is in your hands. We learn our lessons the hard...

    Mesa Boogie Lonestar No Longer

Don't ge me wrong...the Lone Star is a fantastic amp with tons of cool features (many that I never ended up using). But it just wasn't for me. I gigged with it and wasn't happy with the bottom end I was getting on stage. It could also be the difference between 1x12 and 2x12. I prefer a 2x12 and...

    Mesa Boogie Lonestar No Longer

I couldn't justify spending all that cash on a Lone Star then spending more cash to swap out the speaker. I think the reason I'm not getting the sound I like is the fact that my LSC is a 1x12. The TRRI is (of course) a 2x12. I wasn't able to get a LSC 2x12 at the store where I bought my LSC...

    Mesa Boogie Lonestar No Longer

The 65 Twin Reverb 40th Ltd weighs a ton and has no casters. Ouch, I'm starting to get back pains just thinking about it.

    Mesa Boogie Lonestar No Longer

Hahaha! My first twin was bought used and its been working well, except a few repairs last month. But I wouldn't gig without backup. This is why I decided to shop around for a second (more reliable amp) hence my LSC purchase.

    Mesa Boogie Lonestar No Longer

Well folks, looks like I'll be handing in my Mesa Boogie membership card. I decided to bring my Lonestar Classic 1x12 back to the store in exchange for a Fender Twin Reverb 40th anniversary LTD. I just wasn't getting the tone I was looking for at band rehearsal or on stage. I already had a...

FRUSTRATION with Lone Star Special. Need advice please.

Get a TS9 or 808 to bring the dirty channel over the top.

Lone Star Classic : Missing Features

I agree. I have no idea why the reverb mute (read: delay) is there. But it's annoying. Maybe it has something to do with the separate channel reverb control. Perhaps if there was only one reverb control (same verb for both channels) there wouldn't be a need for mute?

Lone Star Classic : Missing Features

More on the Lone Star reverb thing. This is a quote from a Guitar Player Magazine (Oct 2004) review of the Lone Star. "The only thing that may be strange for some players is that a timed mute with delay kills the reverb for about three seconds when you switch between channels. Boogie patented...

Lone Star Classic : Missing Features

Maybe it's more like 2 seconds, but it's definately noticeable. The reverb is designed to shut off for a short period when you switch channels. It's built in to every Lone Star. It's a feature not a bug. ;-)

Lone Star Classic : Missing Features

MB did a great job with the Lone Star amp. I'm certainly happy with my purchase. But I notice a few areas that could be improved with this amp. Firstly, I'm not sure about having two reverb level controls. What's the point here? I usually leave my verb on the same amount for both channels. The...

Lonestar Classic 1x12 or 2x12 in a live situation?

I use the LSC 1x12 as my main live amp. We play blues-rock, jazz and funk. I use a variety of stomp boxes with it as well. Normally during live performances I am mic'd so theres never an issue of not being heard. I play with a fairly loud drummer. But the LS is such a loud amp that it woud cut...

Must I buy tubes from Mesa?

Wow! Nice amp. Love that wood exteriour with the wheat grill. Feakin' gorgeous! Do me a favour and get that panting off it though. ;-) I retubed my LSC 1x12 with a matched quad set of JJs without any problem. It actually sounds better in my opinion. If I ever need repairs under warranty the...

    Lone Star fun

I'm curious. What in particular do you like better about the Classic? I own a classic and never got to try a special. But I like the clean headroom I get from the classic's 100 watts. So, i'm happy with my purchase.

Lonestar comparable to a Fender super reverb or vibroverb?

I own a Fender Twin Reverb. The Lone Star Classic has a clean that is comparable to the Twin if not the vibroverb. I've A/B'd them and with some tweaking you can get an almost identical tone. But the LS takes it to another level with the rectifier switching and output switch etc... If you...

How to remove the caster wheels on a LSC?

Thanks Bob. Yes, the LS is a heavy mofo. Not as bad as my Fender "The Twin" though. It comes in at over 80 pounds. I hate lugging gear around. Wish I had a roadie. ;-)

Lone Star Special - Fan on, Fan off? When?

I've got a Lone Star Classic with no ability to turn the fan off. It's just always on. Did MS add this ability to the LSS only or do new LSC have it as well?

How to remove the caster wheels on a LSC?

is it possible to easily (read quickly) remove the caster wheels on a LS? I tried turning and pulling them out like I can with my Fender Twin Reverb but they seem to be fixed in the socket. I'd like to place my 1x12 combo on top of a custom 2x12 cab. Can't do this with the wheels on it.

HELP! Lone Star 1x12:ringing/buzzing noise only on one note.

Actually your explanation was very helpful. Thanks. I have another question for you specific to the Mesa Boogie Lone Star (perhaps other Boogies work the same way). Does the tube rectifier kick in when the amp is set to 100 watts or is it specifically a power distribution required when the amp...

HELP! Lone Star 1x12:ringing/buzzing noise only on one note.

Thanks RR. I will replace the 5U4 tube (I'll request a free one since the amp is still under warranty). But I have a gig tonight and may not be able to get to the store in time to pick up the tube. So, as you've indicated if I remove the tube but keep the rectifier switch to diodes and channels...
