(Lonestar Special, LSS): 5W: no sound

I'm with Simon here. If it was a preamp tube, you would see the symptoms in either ch1/2. (since only v1A isn't shared throughout the signal chain) Do you notice any Vol differences when you are in 15/30W since the 5W hasn't been working? Basically what happens when you are in 5W mode is...

    LSS and rectifier tube

My experience only ... I've had no problems with mesa tubes and the stock rect. (My serial is < 40, so no mods have been done) As soon as i switched to non mesa tubes, I started to blow my rect. Once I got tubes matched for my amp (thetubestore), no more issues with tubes/rect. I agree with...

LSS - just about to buy but worried

Other than bad tubes, (Which every tube amp is going to have) I've had no problems.

Question: Maintenance and backup for an LSS

I've been a tube ***** at home, i'm trying to build a collection on different tubes... But when I take her out, i always bring at least 1 full set, and a couple of fuses. The only problem i had with my rect was due to my power tubes. As soon as i got a new set, no more rect problems...

    LSS power tube question

5W is the tube closest to the rect tube. 15W is the first two closest to the rect.. (I can't verify this, but I heard that in 5W mode, both tubes are used like in 15W mode, but only one side is being sent to the OT... )

Has anyone put Tone Tubby's in a Lone Star?

I use an 1x12 with a Alnico TT with my LSS. I've always heard that Alnico goes well with el-84's, and i wasn't disapointed. It's like every frequency is improved.. I'm not sure you'll get away with a 2x12 with a LSC. The TT are rated at 40W each... and the LSC is 100W...

Reliability Problems With Lone Star Special's???

Correct For the record, my only issues with the LSS were due to tubes. But they are just little pieces of glass and metal made by man (probably woman and little kids but here isn't the place to talk about that)

    LSS popping noise

My LSS used to do it until i re-tubed. Now whisper quiet.

this may be a dumb question but...

I bet what you want is possible with a mod, You would just have to place the output/input levels into a pedal, and then wire a switch for it ... but wouldn't it be easier to say put a volume pedal in the loop. You would still have the boost with the solo button and a ability to lower the volume...

    Cab for LSS HEad

I built myself a little 1x12 and put a Tone Tubby Alnico in there. The Mix of that and the stock speaker is really nice. My next project will be a 2/12 alnico/ceramic mix. Here's some pics of my shotty work :)

    5 and 15 watt problem

I think it's more the way the set their bias?? (I'm probably talking out of my *** here) But, Only with certain tubes i blow my rec on my LSS. When i put mesa tubes back in, no more problems ....

    Pedal for Lonestar Special

For those days when I want noise. I like to use a RAT with at TS-9 after to add that little extra into CH1.

Lone Star Classic, Lone Star Special Comparison

Don't think you can get crystal cleans out of a 30w with a crazy loud drummer, but if your mic'd you can ... The LSC is 100/50W (The new one goes down to 10W)

Best way to use LSS in conjunction with PA? Slave/FX out/Mic

Speakers are the best way to color your sound. (And really change your sound to a certain extent (more than changing tubes)) If i were you, I would mic that bad boy. If she still can't hear after it's been set up. Then get a really long speaker cable, an extra 4x12, and put it beside her :)

Help With LSS / Solo Function Keeps Dying!

I've switched on the effects loop without putting it on standby and had no problems. As for why you blow tubes ??? If i were you, i would call mesa. Since you just got it, they will probably send you some tubes. (My guess is you still have bad tubes, but call them and see what they say)

Lone Star Special, What Extension Cab Should I Order?

I'm using a home made 1x12 with an alnico tone tubby in it. The alnico really complements the stock speaker well.

help! running 50 watts in LS what two tubes are working ?

For my LSS, in 5W mode only the closest tube to the rect is used. In 15W it is the 2 closest and 30W all 4. For you LS, i would guess that the 2 closest are used in 50W mode. (only guessing because of the similarities to the LSS, and the new LS has a 10W mode, which leads me to believe that it...
