    Effects loop/footswitch problem

Eight-pin cable arrived yesterday, and problem fixed - loop is now footswitchable. Sweet! Thanks again!

    Effects loop/footswitch problem

Because I'm lazy. :) Update, my local dealer is going to take care of me. They're going to put in for an eight-pin replacement cable for me on the house. My dealer also checked a new Mark V they just received and it had a seven-pin cable with it, so I suspect they're ordering at least two...

    Effects loop/footswitch problem

Checked my cable and I do in fact have a seven-pin, so we may have the culprit! I bought it new locally three months ago and the cable is still minty. Going back to the dealer today to see if I can swap out for an 8-pin. If they can't help me, I'm sure Boogie customer service will step up to...

    Effects loop/footswitch problem

Sweet tip ... I'll check it tonight first thing when I get home from work. Thanks!

    Effects loop/footswitch problem

The FX LED on the footswitch goes on and off when I switch the footswitch. The LED on the faceplate of the amp, however, does not come on no matter what I try. To clarify that, the faceplate LED doesn't go on or off in the footswitch mode on the effects assign rotary. The LED on the faceplate...

    Effects loop/footswitch problem

Curious as to if anyone else has what I think is a problem on my Mark V. Got it new three months ago and I have not been able to make the FX on/off footswitch feature work. I tried again this morning, this time after re-reading the effects loop portion of the manual a couple of times. The loop...

    Pedals with Mark V

The beauty of the V IMHO is that the amp itself sounds so darn good, I don't want to go overboard with effects. Just let the amp tones themselves shine. I have a Teese wah that I set up out front once in a blue moon. In the loop, I have a TC Flashback Delay and a TC Corona Chorus. The delay is...

Your Opinion- Mark V over other Marks

I've had several IIIs and IVs over the years and the thing that made me go with the V (and not look back) were the crunch and clean channels. High gain sounds were never a problem in the III and IV but it seemed that sacrifices had to be made on low- and no-gain modes to make the high gain...

Mesa Mark V Tube Life Expectancy

I've only had my Mark V a few months, but in the Mark IIIs and IVs I've owned over the years I changed power tubes once a year and preamp tubes every other year.

    Favorite Mark V mode...

I wouldn't say I had a favorite mode on the amp but if I had to play one mode all day, it'd probably be the crunch mode with the power section pushed. Every tone imaginable seems to be under the guitar's volume knob when the amp is opened up.

Help me choose an effects system please :)

Sounds familiar ... when I bought my Mark V a few months ago, I sold off all my effects with the exception of my Teese wah. After enjoying the pure amp tones for a while, I decided it'd be nice to have something in the loop to grease things up a little at times. Went with the TC Electronics...

Just came in today from Mesa!!!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did Boogie charge for that? I've considered getting a friend who does great work make me a custom head shell for my Mark III combo's chassis, but I'd be inclined to go with the home team if the price wasn't stoopid expensive.

how important in the fan in mark series amps?

On my III, the fan plugs into a dedicated AC outlet on the bottom-side of the chassis. I've unplugged mine temporarily for recording and didn't experience any problems. But logic tells me the fan is probably there for a good reason, and I should normally use it even if I don't know exactly why...

The ultimate (cheap) living room practice amp

Another vote for the Micro Cube. Perfect amp for a variety of guitar sounds at whisper volumes AND guitar on the go.

    The Mark III Porn Thread!

My green stripe III has a dedicated plug on the underside of the chassis for the cooling fan. The plug on the back of the chassis is where I plug a wall-wart for the delay I run in the loop. I've also used it for WWs for wireless receivers in the past.

List all the Boogies you've owned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First one back in the 90s was a Mark III head and a vertical 2x12 halfback. Celestion in open-back top, EV in closed-back bottom. Upgraded to a Mark IV head with same cab. Then a Tremoverb head with an old 70s Marshall 4x12. Rectoverb combo when I got tired of hauling cabs at 2 a.m. Back to...

    Sylvania 12AX7s ID?

Agreed, I'm just using the Sylvania in V1. V2 and V3 are Boogie-stamped Chinese tubes, a 12AX7 and a SPAX7 respectively. V4 and the phase inverter IIRC are Sovteks right now.

    Sylvania 12AX7s ID?

Thanks for the great information, Thom. Advice heeded on the "use sparingly" suggestion - I found out quickly that just a V1 replacement was enough to make an unbelievable improvement in the tone of the amp - and that was after it was already drastically improved by a long-plate Sylvania in V1.

    Sylvania 12AX7s ID?

Latest eBay purchase just arrived ... Seller said they test 100 percent. Three appear to have been never used at all. I don't really know a lot about NOS tubes. I got them because the price was very nice (cheaper than current Mesa-stamped Chinese preamp tubes), and the old Sylvania tube...

EV fitting/polyfill lining in a Thiele

I insulated my 1x12 EV-loaded Thiele this weekend. It originally had a C90 in it. Did the back, bottom and non-port side and I'm pleased with the result - definitely tighter thump than non-insulated. FYI, I went low budget for insulating material - I cut up cheap home central AC unit filters. I...
