My Triaxis preamp is a version 3.0 with the Ser No. TX-5 8717. I know it's a version 3.0 because I called Mesa Boogie headquarters and was informed as such. Hope that helps in confirming Ser No.'s over 8000 are a version 3.0 Tri. At least mine is. Cheers!

Ditto to what tguitar said about using the dial on out 1 on the Axe Fx II and having the 290 at noon. I have a Triaxis rig and am able to play at a very low volume and still get great very high gain tones just by controlling the overall level on the Triaxis Output volume and keeping the 290s...

Bummer! The rest of the modes sound great with the right guitar, poweramp, speakers etc. However, it is darn next to impossible to get a decent tone out of that lead 1 red mode. I would like to be able to use ALL of the modes on this preamp even though one could gravitate more to some than...

Hello, The quad is a GREAT choice to go for a Mesa preamp. As someone who used to own one, I would recommend the Mesa Stereo 295 poweramp and one or two 1980's Mesa 2x12 or 4x12 open-back on top with closed-back on the bottom cabinets with the 200 watt EV'S on the bottom and 90 watt Boogie...
